I watched TOS as a kid, watched most of TNG as an adult, and tried to get into DS9 and Voyager but never did. The latest reboot movies were pretty hit or miss, but mostly watchable. I haven't wanted to watch Discovery or Picard, but I'm actually getting into Strange New Worlds a bit.

Fun fact: If you're a fan of TOS, check out "Star Trek Continues" on YouTube. It's mainly a fan-fiction series, but it's done in the style of TOS, with similar lighting, music, plots, and special effects. They even managed to get a few legit tie-ins to TOS (e.g., the actor who played Apollo makes a return, James Doohan's son plays Scotty, Erin Grey is a SF admiral). It's designed to be a bridge between the end of the TOS series and the 1979 movie, so uniforms evolve accordingly.

I'm also dusting off an old model of the Enterprise that I put in the closet for 15 years, and finally trying to finish it. There were threads here a few years ago, where @SnikPlosskin built the same one.

I liked the original. Honestly never watched any of the others more than a few minutes. I liked the first couple of movies.

Grace Lee Whitney (Yeoman Janice Rand) for the win.

The original was in reruns during afternoons while I was in college. It was pretty much must see TV for a lot of us in the dorm. I've seen a couple of the movies but never got into the TV sequels.

IIRC William Shatner complained that there were no "residuals" for actors back then and so they get nothing from cable and over-the-air showing of reruns, unlike say Seinfeld who could fund a small country with his payouts.

I am still not finished with that model. Life got in the way (surgeries) and the electronics are really complex. I think it’s been five years since I worked on it.

That model has structural problems. It’s very unbalanced and the mounting rod puts a lot of pressure on a part with very little glue surface. That huge dish is heavy so the models eventually split in half.

I also can’t remember the wiring scheme so I am having to run every circuit down with a multimeter to ensure it’s hooked up right while praying that I didn’t get a wire wrong and the thing never comes to life.

My other fear is gluing the dish together and having to carefull fill and seal it without disturbing the paint job or tiny decals.

Right now it seems dead but it could be that everything has to be hooked up and powered before it will work. Before I could run test leads, bypassing the circuit board - it worked then. I had the shuttle bay working with the board hooked up but now nothing.

Unfortunately I have no time to put in on it. The paint is gorgeous ours with five color iridescent paint. I didn’t use Aztec decals. I masked and painted interlocking patterns in five colors plus flat white.

Insane. I. Am.

Then, once it’s done, where the **** do I put it. It’s three feet long.

I’ll try to post some pictures of the current state of the thing. It’s a mess.

You're still a lot farther along than I am, even with all the rework you need to do. All I've been able to complete are a couple of minor subassemblies (shuttle bay, arboretum & saucer edges) and a bunch of painting (aztecs, chiller grills, officer lounge, light blocking). I've got all the time in the world to work on it, but I'm moving pretty slow due to essential tremors; not really conducive to detail work. I start shaking pretty bad if I try to do more than just a few minutes at a time, so I still have a long road ahead, too.

I loved the original show as a kid and have re-watched a lot of the remastered shows.

The next generation with Picard was excellent. I really liked his leadership style, and actually used some of his techniques when managing employees in my career.

Regarding wearing fan clothing or collecting memorabilia- hard pass.

I loved the OS as a kid, but never had any trek clothing. I did have this cool Spock poster though.

Worth watching some Nimoy interviews, he said he hadn't had two weeks in a row of acting work before landing the Star Trek roll. Cameos in a few old western series but that was it and real fans know the Spock character was almost cut from the show.

Damn that would be hard. It’s definitely one of the most difficult models there is, especially if you deck it out with electronics.

I’ve got the TenaControls Megaboard, so I’ll have lighting for every feature except shuttle bay landing lights. I’m trying to build it well, but not going extravagant on A/M features like photoetch parts or things like Raytheon effects. My Aztecing is just 2-tone, but looks pretty good. I figure it’s a good way to fight through the tremors.

I would think it’s great for fighting tremors. I got the board with the sequential lights. Plus the photo etch parts. I even lit the tiny shuttles!

I drilled holes in the shuttle bay deck, filled with clear epoxy with an LED embedded in it then painted the deck gloss black with coats of clear acrylic so it’s reflective. I used the yellow decals under the clear. I’ll see if I can find some video I shot.

I love how the height of '60's Go Go Girl fashion was universal! We loved it when it came out....we'd all march over to the Cramer's house across the street, as they had a color 24" television, a rare and expensive luxury in 1966. Watched Batman over there too, for the colors.

Saw the movies in the 80's, but never watched the later stuff.
The original cast was excellent.

Thanks for the pics! Biggest upcoming paint challenge is trying to get the colors right for the version I'm building (Refit, not -A). Most of the studio model pics I've found online show the 1701-A colors, after the model was sold at auction. Outside of the washed-out video captures from the TMP flyaround, it's hard to find any accurate Refit pics from TMP or WoK.
