Default Bad Knees; CBD?

My knees continue to get worse as time goes by. (arthritis) I'm using 4-6 Tylenol AND Ibuprofen per day, which works OK as long as I'm basically doing nothing. Doc says I'm a candidate for joint replacements, but I'm a bit afraid of surgery.

Dr. Google seems to feel that CBD can help with the pain, but I have no idea of which brands, types, sellers, etc., are OK or worthwhile.

Any recommendations based on personal experience would be appreciated.

Back when CBD first appeared on the local market here, meaning at the drug stores......I bought some, and it had little to no effect so I quit taking it....

I am taking a Doc's script for 1000 mg of AsseatOmetafin 3X/day....and it's doing next to nothing also.....

I had back/spine surgery about 2.4 years ago.....that helped the total spine failure, but the rest of my skeleton is just rusty crap.....age 78 here....

I've been using that stuff for years. I have no idea whether it helps or not without stopping it for a while.

I grew hemp for CBD for a couple years when it first became legal here. 3 varieties, Cherry, Franklin & the wife.
Not being a smoker myself, I can only pass along second hand experience. I was told the cherry was best for “anxiety” but the wife was best for aches and pains. There are many more varieties now. It seems the key is finding the correct variety to target the desired effect. Apparently there is much variation between the effects of each variety.

I assume things test-wise are still similar but I had to test each variety for 13 different compounds as well as heavy metals. If I was to begin an endeavor to narrow down choices, I probably would try a few different types then try to figure which components from those lab tests were highest in the one(s) that seemed to help.

Sidenote, there were actually a couple pharmacists around here who are apparently well-versed in which ones target what, finding a similar one close to you might be an option as well

Personal opinion: the edible oil might be the best delivery method but unless it is labeled as a specific variety, it is an amalgamation of many different ones and that seems a recipe for failure

Good luck in finding a solution, whatever it is.

4 years ago next month I had my right hip replaced. 3 months later I had the left hip replaced.

A few months later in September, same surgeon did some arthroscopic on my knee, trimmed up the torn meniscus and cleaned out some arthritis. Couple months later, same thing on the other knee.

The reason was if the knees didn't change, then joint replacement would be next. Since then, knees are fine and no pain. Now, I cannot run, jump and the rest of it but I don't care, Everyday normal life is fine and I'm happy with it.

I suggest considering a cleaning out before replacement.

Image of the cleaning out-all that crap you see is what causes those knife stabbing pain

That glucosamine doesn't do shit and certainly will not reverse age-related issues and CBD oil? Might as well rub butter on it

In the next few months I will be having elbow surgery. Right now I use Capsacin or Biofreeze. It masks it for a few days but then it's back

My doc recommended Voltaren, an NSAID gel.

Voltaren is now in Walmart and Costco. To me, it does about the same as Biofreeze & Capsacin.

I have had arthritis in my left knee for about 8 years, I have tried the cortisone shots, and the lubrication shots, etc, to the point where he says the only thing left is replacement. I can give you two good reasons why I am waiting, in no particular order:

1. Doc says that once he replaces my knee, NO MORE RUNNING. It has been my preferred CV exercise for 46 years now, and I am not in a hurry to leave it behind.

2. I'm not sure it will correct the biggest problem. I get some chondromalacia pain, which the replacement should eliminate, but my bigger problem is chronic inflammation where the ITB attaches to the outside of my knee. Doc says replacement will NOT address this problem.

You're also becoming a candidate for liver transplant surgery.

CBD is all hype. Doesnt do anything. Your knees need fixing, not a band aid.
Losing weight helps. Pick up two gallons of water and walk for a while, then put them down. Huge difference. Shows how bad weight stresses your body.

Low dose edible MJ gummie works great for me. CBD didn't do anything at all no matter which blend I tried. All of it only masks the pain, though, and I will eventually need surgery, but docs won't even suggest it yest.

I also have arthritis in my hands, mostly my thumbs, but also some in the metacarpal area. I have been taking CBD gummies for it for about 3 years, and it works very well. Hard to say if it has lessened my knee pain, but it sure has not resolved that problem.

Yeah but, yeah but….. I know a guy who went through a year of complications following a knee replacement, ending with amputation of his lower leg. Probably extremely uncommon, but I don’t want to be the second guy I know.

I am heading in that direction though.

Maybe, but hopefully not. I'm not exceeding the recommended daily dose for either acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and my blood tests have never shown any kidney or liver problems. Of course, I'd be better off without either, but then I'd barely be able to walk around on most days.
