909,330 trucks sold / 365 days in a year is 2,491 trucks built per day, EVERY day.

That’s a ridiculous amount of trucks. And that’s JUST Ford.
That particular twitter post (and I'm not on twitter) it just showed up on yahoo or something I was viewing. It is one truck plant in KY. the racetrack is defunct and that factory is within a few miles of the track. They just roll them out the door non-running and truck them over to the track.

I don't know about the other mfg. plants. If it's true at the one in the article..what if you multiply it to the others? I know my local dealer has zero new trucks on their lot. They go to the local auction to buy/sell used ones. Imagine being a new car salesman in that situation...

The only reason I selected 2018 was it’s the biggest recent year. In 2021 that number dropped to 726,003. That’s US by the way.

Still, at 726,003 that’s 1,989 trucks a day which is insane.

I have worked in carpet mfg., it is and has been the biggest industry in N.GA for decades.

Even during my time I wondered where does it all go?! Countless mfgs., 24/7 non-stop production. You would think the demand would be filled at some point, but no, it just keeps going.

Same for area rugs. I worked for a smaller area rug importer. Not even the big sellers. We averaged 100 orders per day. And were just one small operator amongst the giants of them. Can you imagine their numbers?

People work to buy shit is all I can figure out. They don't want to save. Don't want money in the bank. Think it will always be flowing in or something.

Not a P-car dood, but respect their showroom to track cars.

Saw a 911, think it was the track-ready variant with the fake passenger seat, maybe the RS GT2, in WPB at Braman, price was $300+K with a $250K ADM, was about 4 years ago, Porsche was stabbing customers long before anyone else.

Good luck with your future purchase, if 911 you are pursuing there are two major issues, I seen none at our dealerships, and have seen others post that all have ADMs, most at $50+K.

Whatever happened to the days when any new car could be bargained for at under MSRP, and you had multiple options on the lot??

New Porsche's are insane on price. Hell, you can't even buy a Cayman GTS at MSRP. I'm looking at used as a new one is out of my price range.

Gym teacher in HS had one. He also ran around all day in gym shorts and those old style white calf socks, sandals, beard, long hair. Left over hippie.

They aren't bad looking little cars to me these days. But, they should Volks. badges on them vs P. Along with the P 944, etc...A co-worker had bought a new 944 back in the day. He babied that thing and would hardly drive it. Not being savvy to online KBB, etc...he asked me to look up how much it was worth (about 15 yrs., ago). His jaw and heart both hit the floor. He thought what he paid MSRP and with the P emblem he would have doubled his money on it.

My favorite P car would be a 1978-earlier 911 in black/black. Some are severely lacking in performance, but I love the style and the mechanical stuff before sensors, FI, electronics, etc...

Everyone also went to lean mfg. and just in time inventory to avoid warehousing.

Everyone loved the '67 Corvette because it was devoid of emblems. I'm the same way. I think vehicles look better without them and the free advertising.

And the stupid dealers that want to plaster their dealer badges/stickers on them....huge pet peeve of mine.

For years they made those blue ovals here in MN. I went down to Ohio, disassembled the entire line and reassembled it here. The clear resin-like material that went over the stamped oval was applied by gravity. It ran out of a 3/16" piece of stainless tubing onto the stamped oval Ford logo. If they didn't get the viscosity exactly right the shit was too runny and slobbered all over the stamp. If they put the wrong amount on, the oval had too much -or not enough-dome on it.

While they were dialing this thing in they must have plugged 100 tubes with this resin shit. Everything was swagelok compression fittings so it was fairly simple to replace a section.

They also made Trans-Am hood eagles, those color coded Dodge logos and the individual letter Dodge name decals. The Dodge logos were laser cut.
