The squishy looking thing looks like a fuel primer don't it. I wondered what it was hooked to, must be from fuel lines.

I'm pretty sure the vacuum can lives in the left front fender. I think that's an inline fuel filter.

If I am correct and that is a fuel filter you should probably relocate it so neither it or the line it is attached to rub on either the control arm or sway bar as both parts move as the suspension moves.
Actually, whatever it does it should be moved so no holes get rubbed in it.
Inline fuel filters are generally located closer to the carburetor in the actual engine bay so they are easy to access for service, or along a frame rail so they can be mounted securely so they don't shake loose, rub or leak.

It looks huge. Maybe just the pic. I do see where it hooks to hard lines and has a direction flow arrow.

And the last vacuum can I saw on a C3 was the size (and dead ringer for) a #10 can, like for restaurant sized ketchup.

Can you read what is on it? It doesn't look like it belongs there.

Can't get it to open. Looks like a fuel filter to me. But sure as hell should not be there.

Suck it in you will fit.

I think it was put in there as a temporary to catch any possible crap.

Look at the carb I think back then there was a big nut right on the carb that the filter was hidden in.

Sure looks like it.... He must have used it to make sure nothing from new lines/tank got into carb or fuel pump.

That sure looks like it could be it. Follow the line and see where it goes. But if it is it needs to be in a safer spot.

I am still leaning to a extra fuel filter but I have been wrong before.

That makes sense. The locator does not. Assuming it was intended to be a temporary thing?

So, in the video at the end, that brass type fitting @ radiator.

Not sure what is coming into the magnetic filter (dumb girl I know) silver line, I assume to be fuel line right?

The more I look at this car the more questions I have.

Thank you all for humoring my utter ignorance.

Oh, and how’s that fart can working Cajun? 😚😍

Tranny freshly rebuilt before going to NC. Would that be a reason to do this?

It should have a filter inside it for the trans. fluid. Strange setup for some reason to filter the coolant lines.
