Deputies Say Man Posed as Volunteer Firefighter

HOUSTON - A man is behind bars after he tried to pass himself off as a volunteer Spring, Texas firefighter, deputies say.

Dakota Runes Short is charged with impersonating a public servant and is in custody on $5,000 bond.

Sunday, a deputy saw Short using a red and blue-type dash light to move through stopped traffic, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said. That light caused nearby drivers to stop and move out of Short’s way.

When the deputy stopped Short, he said he was a volunteer Spring firefighter and that he was responding to a fire. The deputy arrested Short after finding out there were no active fires in the area.

****ing retards. Nope, dont know him of course.....hopefully they throw the book at him. He looks like an idiot.

We had a guy a few years ago that was actually responding to calls. He had no affiliation with the dept, paid or volunteer....or any other department. He got himself some cool woo-woo lights and a scanner from ebay. I think he spent a few months in county lockup.

Don't know if Texas allows blue lights on Fire-rescue units,they don't in my state.

Yes it's weird, in FL blue lights were reserved for the Cops only. Here in Texas it seems everybody has them, including service trucks, and all types of emergency vehicles

It varies state by state. Red is primary for fire/ems in tx, but blue/green/amber/white can be in the mix...all depends on dept SOP. My bar is red/blue/red/red/blue/red.

They use blue lights on snowplows up in Ontario.... Those things freak me out
