Lets say the USA had the resources of today's Military back in the 1940's. How long do you think it would have taken us to defeat Germany? How about Japan?

You could drop bombs in a matter of days, but you still have to occupy land if you want it under your control.

If we had today's technology and the others had 1040's ? Do you really think that Germany and Japan would stay static ? I feel it would be very different. Germany would lay waste to the East Coast and Japan the West coast.
Germany's technology at the end of the war was FAR superior to the Allies-and they would have shared with Japan. Who knows what Germany would have by now if left to their devices.

How would they get to our coasts with 40's technology?

What timeframe are we talking about? In the short term, if we had today's tech and they had 40's tech they wouldn't ever get close. There was absolutely no weapon in their arsenal at the time that could get them to our shores against modern tech.

A battlegroup like attacked Pearl Harbor would be destroyed in a matter of minutes. A slow, prop bomber run wouldn't make it off the ground. Factories, headquarters, etc could be hit from hundreds of miles away with something like a TLAM. Their command and control would be non-existant. Their Navy would be destroyed by our subs and surface fleets before they even fired a shot. The mighty Tiger tanks would be target practice, they would have zero chance of transporting food, ammo, etc to their ground troops due to the overwhelming air superiority we would have....

The list goes on and on.

We would have had total air superiority within a few days. The whole thing would have been over in a few days or a few weeks at the most. That's because back then we had the will to win.

That depends. With today's technology and today's administration, we would have sent them flowers, played golf and taken personal vacations and fundraisers. Sure, the technology would have made a huge difference, but we will be saying the same thing in 15-20 years.

It is up to those calling the shots to maximize the efficacy of the resources available. With today's technology back then, they would have had a field day and we would not have endured as many casualties on both sides.
