Dunno the songs, but based on your videos Pete, I think Thomas should stick to welding and photography.

Since you can't carry a tune, or play one with a Kazoo you'd do well to close your yap.

Yes, he had long term drug issues that came home to roost. I saw him and the rest of REO in ‘71-ish before anyone knew who they were. They, and specifically Gary, made quite an impression on me and my friends at that concert.

This is the original lineup:

After that song, my buddies and I were looking at each other like, “wtf just happened?”

And the song Snik was playing:

Ding ding ding!

Faith restored in man.

I didn’t really play it correctly as I was going from memory. I started in A then down to G. Looks like he does the reverse. Huge influence on me too. That’s why my first guitar was a Les Paul!

Link to download album coming to you!

Bob Wills never played it that way. Besides I believe Roly Poly was a Gene Autry song. Daddy's little fatty.

It's weird. Some things came pretty easy relatively early on and some give me fits to this very day. Vibrato is a good example. My vibrato is HORRIBLE I've tried all different kinds. the BB King style where he tends to open and shake his entire hand to more of a Eric Clapton thing where his hand is loose from the fretboard and it's more of a bounce technique. SRV had a very wide vibrato. Can't do that well either. Basically, my vibrato sounds like vomit hitting pavement.

Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys - Roly Poly - YouTube
Not sure what you mean. I’m playing the same thing but slower. Those guys are cooking. There are numerous versions of the song by Wills. I’m playing an arrangement for guitar. It’s a lot of piano in the version you posted.

And Gene Autry never did the song. Written by Fred Rose and recorded in 1946 by Wills. A single guitar can’t capture the complexity of the piano part alone. Lots going on in that song.

Here is how we used to do it back in the day.

We worked out our own arrangement.
