That reminds me of the time Obama shut down the government and had parking spaces off the highway cordoned off to prevent people from stopping to view Mt. Rushmore, and had various monuments in Washington D.C. roped off, trying to prevent 'Honor Flight" WWII veterans from visiting the very monument dedicated to their service to our country. Spending money to rope off open areas seems like a waste of money and seems petty, but what do I know.

In preparation for the shutdown, we had to spend extra money to barricade off open air monuments, and pay to send a crew with traffic cones to block parking spots, then pay those same crews to remove the barricades and cones.....all to block spaces that are open 24/7. Not like closing a museum or something......they were open air spots.

Trump had rioters removed to protect not just the historic church from being burned down, but to keep our national monuments from being destroyed, after assaults on both the church and the national monuments.

If you'll recall, the rioters had already severely vandalized the church and area immediately around the church, and had unsuccessfully tried to burn the whole church down the night before. As it was, they destroyed some storage areas in the basement of the church.

The leaders of a historic church near the White House say they are praying for the nation to heal after the building was damaged when violence erupted following anti-racism and anti-police brutality protests in Washington, D.C.

Trump's action saved the church from being burned to a crisp and destroyed. It stands today precisely because Trump took decisive action to protect our shared national heritage. I mean, I get that for most leftists, a church is at best of no value, and at worst an insult to their atheist or Muslim beliefs, but that particular church is noteworthy and historical for secular AND religious reasons.

As to the church leadership who criticized Trump for saving their church: You know WHERE they criticized him for that? At their church, which remains standing. I guess they would have felt more morally superior had they condemned Trump standing on the smoldering ruins of their church.

Finally, when the threat from rioters was over, Trump withdrew the federal law enforcement. Compare and contrast with the Biden junta, which has built quasi-permanent walls around both the Capitol and the White House, supported with tens of thousands of seemingly permanent troops. Trump didn't do that. He saved the church and the monuments, then resumed business as normal when the threat had passed.
