Default Here you go all you Libs (you know who you are)

Here's the Romney's 2011 tax returns. I'll make it easy, he earned just short of $21m (how dare he) and paid $1.9 million in taxes for an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent. He could have paid less but he did not claim the full $4M he gave to charity.

Have a good time reading his returns;

The guy is so rich he doesn't even work and makes 20 million.

By the way, almost all of the 4 million he gave to charity when to the Mormons.

And what's your point?

Oh... nevermind. I completely forgot it only counts as a charity if the almighty joecoool approves of it.

So just what do you think we "Mormons" do with that money? Let me set you straight as your atheist ignorance is coming through. First let me point out that we are only asked to tithe 10%, Romney goes way above and beyond.

I'm guessing you think we take that money and and some how use it to benefit just ourselves by enriching each member of the church or do you think we're using the money to build armies and overthrow the government? We we're accused of that 150 years ago. In fact Lincoln called for the elimination of Mormons.

Here's what we use the money for. We pay cash to build our chapels and temples so we don't put the church into debt. We use it to manage a church with over 14.1 MILLION members as of 2010, we pay cash and most of the work is done on a local level is by volunteers. We use it to fund the missionary efforts, each pays what they can. I'm sure it's a alien concept to you, but the majority of our youth, including my son who spent 2 years in the inner city of Baltimore, want to do missionary work and the church makes sure anyone who wants to can, whether their families can afford it or not. Each pays according to their means and the church pays the difference.

The church funds some major universities including BYU which is one of the least expensive colleges to attend as the church subsidises tuition for all students, Mormon or not. The school just has very high standards to get in as so many students apply every year.

The church funds it's own administrative activities in CASH, we don't borrow a dime from anyone. We spend within our means, we operate with a surplus. Having been in a position of leadership in the church where I have been accountable for church funds, let me explain what we do on a local basis. If for example we have a member that can't pay the mortgage because they lost their job, the church will keep them in their home or if they have huge medical bills and no insurance, the church will help. The member repays by doing service work. I have had cases where a family comes through town, has car troubles, no money for repairs or hotel and they have been referred to me and at my discretion I have written a check, paid their car repairs and made sure they had a place to stay and they were NOT Mormon. I have written checks for thousands and thousands of dollars to pay medical bills for those that couldn't and all we ask in return is service work, help maintain our buildings, work in the church owned cannery or one of the farms and even then we don't force them, we leave it up to each individual member but guess what, almost everyone does because they get how things should work. We spend tens of millions of dollars for relief efforts world wide.

What horrible money mongering people we are. I know these ideals don't align with your atheist values, but hey it's what we believe. There is no better example of these principles than Mitt Romney and perhaps that's what the liberals really hate about him, he is a good, decent and honest man.

Your comment "he gave it to Mormons" was offensive, you need to learn to choose your words better or know what you're talking about.

So, you don't see him as a lesser of two evils candidate? A vote for Mitt is a vote for Mitt, not a vote AGAINST Obama correct?

I do see him as the lesser of two evils, but that's only because a candidate like I want could never get nominated by either party.

But I have become more and more convinced that Mitt is a good man and will be a significant upgrade on what we have now...or even what we had 5 years ago.

Jeez, been only 40 years now, but isn't it the Mormon Church that built that Tabernacle off the DC beltway some 40 years ago?? the one with Gabriel on the top??

I toured that place as it was open to the public for like a week/month upon it's dedication....I can still drive to it now, without missing a turn on the roads....

had great translucent marble? walls along the staircases leading up top....

neat piece of work.....

standing joke for decades was that when Gabe and the horn were planted that some workman tossed a beer can in the horn......got NO clue if true or not....

Here's a true story. In 1985 I was managing an auto parts warehouse in Phoenix. The shop owners knew I was Mormon and used to give me a considerable amount of grief, like ordering drinks for me at dinner and offering me large amounts of cash to drink them, sending subscription to adult mags (didn't go over well with the wife) and such. Every year, the ring leader would pack all of his good shop buddies and customers of mine in his 40' Provost type motor home and take them fishing in Canada which took them through SLC. Well they left and came back a couple days later in a bunch of rental cars.

Big Jim, the ring leader, called me and had me come out to his shop in Scottsdale where he apologized and said he wasn't going to take religious shots at me any more or let the others do it. I asked why the change of heart and he said "we were going through Salt Lake and saw that fancy temple building with the angel on it and I proposed a toast in your honor and we all raised our beers and got a good laugh, the motor home burned to the ground 2 miles later"

Taurus, Big Jim needed his big ass handed to him in a big way. You start involving the wife at any level it's game on.
