Default Hey All You Northerner Peeps... Those Whom Would Expect Snow.

Is the outside ready for snow?
I just need to put a snow fence up, (basically to keep deer out of flower beds), put the plowing driveway stakes in, blow out the gutters, and I'm ready.

Oh, I still need to put the winter sneakers on the 525i.
Everything else is done.

Our first "event" usually falls around my birthday... November 18th.
I always hated that.

High in the mid 80's in H-Town. Air conditioner? Running.

Snow prep? Not so much.

Pool is closed. Tropical plants have been brought in. I still have the garden ornaments and patio furniture to put away.

Snow removal prep is moving the 1968 Cub Cadet 125 with the QA42 snow thrower in front of the 1968 Cub Cadet 125 with the mower deck. ( it's great having two Cubs, no changing implements, just position )

Both vehicles are 4WD and we have gutter screens in place. Driveway markers are all that is needed.

Have to install Universal Snow Thrower Cab for my large dual stage snowblower and I have one for my small single stage blower.

Link to what I'm talking about https://www.amazon.com/Arnold-Deluxe-Universal-Snow-Thrower/dp/B005LD2E32
They're fantastic, my face doesn't get snow blaster anymore.

If you don't have a cab, a full face motorcycle helmet works great too.

I got a soft cab last year, got a great deal on it ( $100 )

Snow tires/oil changes going on truck and Honda this week. This year I have to get it done due to being on the injured list still....

Snow blower will have to be started but was tuned last spring so should be good to go.
Latest high winds have blown my boat tarp all to bits, so I'll have to get a new tarp and recover it. Gotta make sure the coons stay dry over the winter.....little bastards!

Storm windows on all doors on, and insulation will be stuffed between doors on one 'unused in winter' entrance. makes a big difference in staying warm. And I close off a couple of unused rooms, shut the floor heating vents to save some energy. Makes great cold storage for drinking water and some batches of food......BRING IT!

Well I posted earlier we got a sample a couple days ago (3")

As I live in Northern NY I have a bunch of things to do to get ready for our normally severe winters.

Take in both outdoor hoses!

Vette going away Thursday for winter, oil change will be done, Stabilizer added, car moved from the big side of the front garage to the small winter garage , car cover and battery tender put on.

All summer lawn equipment moved to the back garage, leaf blower still has a lot to do but 30% are still on the trees.

Putting the winter tires on my 4X4 as I have a bad hilly curvy 1/4 mile driveway and I need a lot of traction for snow plowing. Plow will go on the first time a serious snow is coming and will stay on till spring, + add 500# of weight in the back to aid in traction and balance the overhanging weight of the plow!
I will drive my wife's SUV if I'm going more that a few miles from home!

Put chains on my tractor.. I use it for certain conditions as having a 4' scoop beats pushing snow in a couple bad places and on occasion the truck gets stuck and I can pull myself out.

Whole house stand by propane generator checked out and ready if needed!

Probably missed a couple things but they will get done if needed!

Not close to being ready. Plow truck needs u-joints, snow blower is apart, boat needs to be shrink wrapped. Maybe this Sunday I will get some of it done. Saturday will be our last day to fish saltwater before my brother winterizes his boat.

I got tired just reading that. I'm making a cold drink and heading to the pool for a nap.
