Norm and Donn~E, I go back often as I have lots of family there. I enjoy my visit, but enjoy coming back to my current home. Although I had amazing childhood memories on the gunpowder river/Chesapeake bay/Atlantic ocean, it's a place I could never see myself moving back to as it has changed SO much!

I’m still where I was raised. I talk about leaving Utah a lot but things are pretty good here.

I consider Vancouver, BC, to be my home(town). One day I would love to move back there, if I could afford to live there.

Lived in Albany NY till I got married and moved out. It has turned into a typical democrat run mess. Some of the outlying pars of the city are OK, the further you get away from the downtown area the better.
The neighborhood I spent my first 15 years in is now not a place to be especially at night if you do not fit in to the demographics of that area. If by chance you have to be there at night I suggest you be in a Abrams or possibly a Bradley fighting vechicle. Go back no phucking way! |

I moved away briefly when I was 18 for a job. I shortly thereafter moved back when the company sold and started my own business at 19. I've more or less lived in the same area ever since. I'm now about 20 minutes from where I grew up. it's a beautiful area. Roads, services and cost of living are about as favorable as anywhere in the country. crime is virtually nonexistent. if the area where I grew up would have natural gas and filtered City Water I would Probably consider moving back there if and when I retire.

I grew up in Center Point Alabama. In 1957 it was considered the fastest growing unincorporated community in the US. I was 13 then. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Lots of excitement due to its growth. I left. in 1971 for Florida.
It has turned into a cesspool of violent crime and burglaries and theft. drugs are rampant. No, I tried not to even drive through it. After retirement I purchased a second home nearby. I would go back there in a minute. A great mountain lake in a gorgeous valley. I sold it because it was too difficult to take care of two homes. |

I grew up on the East side of Toronto. Would never move back there. I took Mrs Flex for a little drive there 2 years ago. Showed her my old house, where I went to school, where I hung out, etc.
Mostly unrecognizable now...because diversity and inclusion. I felt like I didn't even belong there. It was weird. |

Would never live there again, grew up in the tiny town of Winthrop Mass.About 20 minutes away from downtown Boston with only a little traffic.
The houses are so close to each other I could see what the neighbor was having for breakfast.Did only live a stones throw from the Atlantic which was nice in the summer but now up in N.H. I can't even see anyone's house. Its way more laid back and overall a better place for our son to grow up and get the most out of life.. The pictures are from my parents front porch. |

I've moved around so much growing up that I don't even know what my hometown is. I guess I'm in it since I've been here for 37 years.

I would go back to that time not the city anymore. L.A used to be conservative when i grew up, now it's mostly liberal. I miss the simpleness of life back in the 50's, 60's and some of the 70's. Too much technology for me today, i'am just a simple guy.

St. Marys Ohio, small town America with not much to offer so no I wouldn’t go back. I’d love to go back to a small town somewhere but that somewhere would definitely have nicer weather

I joined a group on FB, called Bethesda Chevy Chase back in the day......us old farts nostalgia with tons of pix regularly posted, and many comments about that specific town and the closer surrounding region.....and everyone laments what has happened to it, being a border town in Maryland to the DC line, it's turned into a damn mess, subways, highrises, mega-everything, 1200' house running a mega buck, taxes and congestion to match......not to mention crime that is encouraged by the commies running Monkey Co. let alone Md.......
ALL my friends in the region have left town.....only one kid that I know of that is my daughter's age, has moved into the folks old house.....she/hubby seem happy and the burb is still relatively decent......if you don't mind paying 15 grand/year prop taxes......for a 2000' house like me and the ex had..... |

Here's where I grew up. It's a geographic anomaly that only occurs 2 places in the US (valley with no water running out through a pass due to limestone). Other similar configurations are called a lake, but the water here drains out through underground plumbing in the limestone caverns. Does make for very cold temps in the valley in wintertime when the air is still. Still a great place.
