Trump will not do this; so your chance to vote again in 2020 is better protected. Sometimes you need to look ahead, to make a decision on what to do today.

Hey Drew;

I've had nice PM's with Hoog; I feel his pain ... (sadly I am the source of some of this pain).

It's this easy to explain... it is called "damage control" or "damage minimization" or "cutting ones losses". One of the two front runners will win; you or I can't change that. In that certainty... I will try to make certain the one who will win - will be the person that has the least amount of disrespect for:

* gun ownership
* taxes taken out of my paycheck
* the Constitution as it was originally written and intended
* our countries borders

A vote for Trump may actually defeat Hillary. A vote for Gary Johnson does not help defeat Hillary. And right now, that is more important to me than refusing to cut some slack in my strict set of ideals - with this unique situation we are facing.

If the best candidate has zero chance in winning; then sometimes one switches gears and takes a slightly different path... in an attempt to minimize the impact.

For those that think this country is sooo fubar'd that it's almost impossible to resurrect... then 4 years of Hillary will be the nail in the coffin. It's all about keeping Hillary out of the office, at all costs, for me.

I understand about people having morals and ideals they want to stick with. But we're at a teetering point in this election.

Between Hillary and Trump; who do you think would protect your right to vote again in 2020 (and there being a chance that your type of candidate may be in the lead this next time)?

If you're the type of person that sticks to his ideals tightly... you're the type of person I have the greatest respect for.

But why are the idealists this time hesitant to say "I understand the impact of a President Hillary, but will still vote my strict ideals regardless"? But it seems the idealists this time don't want to hear a single word about the probable impact of Hillary.

Cast your vote as you decide to; but is there anything wrong with examining the overall impact it could lead to ?

If you are OK will Hillary winning (thinking she can't really do any harm to the country) then don't vote for Trump. That is the reality of the situation.

Leading up to WWII, we were not friends with Russia, but we joined forces to defeat Hitler. And after the war, we went back to not being close friends with each other.
