People Who Put "M.Ed" or "MBA" As A Title

I've noticed a lot of people that put a Master's designation after their names, as though it's a title of some sort. I think it's kinda silly, like they're desperate for recognition.

Ph.D okay. Anything else...ehhhhhh....

I'm getting my Master's for myself, not to enhance my perceived social status. I know several folks with Ph.D's who don't use the title in their name. They tell me people tend to act differently towards them if they do. I get that.

I'm going to start adding B.S. after my name... for multiple reasons.

My sis is 13 years older than me, and married at age 21, off to Bloomington Ind. to get a PHD in music for her hubby, so he was accumulating his paperwork for his disertation and someone stole it.....but he managed to get a do nothing job at Library of Conngress....recorded sound division....record collection in them daze.....they awarded him a honorary PHD upon his retirement /death in his middle 50's...smoked like a fireplace.....he never stuck any letters after his name, even after all the ceremonies, and his membership in the Cosmos Club, NW DC.....

but no, I don't use it anymore now that I'm out of automotive!
It stands for Master Automotive Service Technician in case you didn't know

My old man achieved up here the designation of Queens Council as a lawyer, and he does sign his name like that once in a while, QC at the end. Guess he earned it in the legal profession. I think it's a tad pretentious.

one thing about DOCtorates... MS... MA... MBA... VH1, their cars "key" just the same as cars owned by HS dropouts.

Seems desperate to me, but with that said my wife has a few professional certificates that she tacks on to her signature and are on her business card that are more like a credential for the position. (PHR and something else I dont pay attention to). It may be company policy or something but she doesnt have a MBA or MA or anything. Me, I dont care.

in a business environment - I understand the need and justification.

But, for example, years ago a new member to our local ham radio club (yes, ham radio... don't laugh) insisted his membership card have "DMath" added to the end of his name

I have a couple of masters and certs. I only put them on when dealing with headhunters and HR.

I never had it on my business card but when I was an MCSA I had it listed under the certifications on my resume.

I saw some folks put it by their name.
