I've not used them but a few pals have sworn they were excellent knives and held an edge very well.
They do get a bad rap but seem to work exceptionally well. Scott

We had a pair of Cutco kitchen shears that lasted a really long time. Come to think of it, I don't even know what happened to them.

They are not in the same league as Wusthof or Henckels but are much better than Ginsu. I think they are a fair value for the dollar.

WTF do you mean by better than Ginsu? I'll have you know that you can cut through a metal can, then shave layers off a mater. I saw it on TV back in the 80's.

Hey Al ....to me it's like all my tools. you buy the best ones you can afford and you'll never have to buy another one in your life. I bought a complete set of the black handled henkels 30 years ago and save one or two nicks in the handle from touching a hot element....they're still like new.
i bought mine when they went on sale for half price. 7 plus the cleaver and steel. If however you plan on leaving them where they could get stolen, don't bother.....they're a hot ticket item on thieves list. In my restaurant I used a rental knife company. for peanuts they dropped in brand new sharpened sets weekly. I still have some of them and they work great too. Capital Cutlery up here. Just down on Merivale if you remember where that is. |

I'd like to have some better kitchen knives, I think ours are Kitchenaid or something. They are ok, but not great.
I would REALLY like to have a Randall someday though. Not exactly kitchen cutlery, but just for the Historical aspect. |

I disagree. I have a set of Wusthof and a set of Henckles sitting in a box in the basement.... and a set of Cutco on the counter.

We have a Cutco set and they keep edges really well. We had the tip of one break off doing something it probably wasn't designed to do, but we sent it to them and they replaced it free (about 4 years after buying them).
They've worked really well for us. Yeah they were a bit pricier than we'd like, but we're not buying Wusthof or anything like that. They do the job and do it well and the company supports them quite well. |

I'll see if I can dig them out. They're sitting in boxes still from moving last year. I don't remember what exactly I have. Both sets were gifts.
As a general statement, if you have a set of a different brand that you like, there is 1 single knife that I absolutely love and would recommend for anybody. The 9" carver. https://www.cutco.com/products/produ...3bwvinkg34grbv |

You can't go wrong with Cutco. If they get dull, just send then to the factory, and they'll sharpen them for free. Tip: When they get back from the factory, remember that they're really, really sharp. I once used one to slice a tomato, and it went through the tomato so fast that it cut my hand.
