The short version is I am voting for the guy whose positions most closely match mine. A smaller, fiscally responsible federal government that isn't the world's police force. Personal choice, accountability, and equal treatment for all Americans. An immigration policy that actually has a prayer of being codified. A fair tax code that will allow people to break out of the welfare state. Truly free markets.

Keep in mind I'm pretty much a die hard Libertarian while considering the following:

The immigration policy you are speaking of will doom America. Ted Kennedy screwed America back in '65, and the chickens are coming home to roost, as it were. We are flooding the country with low skilled illegal aliens and legal 3rd worlders who are bringing this country down to the lowest common denominator. Anchor babies alone will eventually sink this country, because the 3rd worlders vastly outproduce (kids) everyone else.

We have to stop the illegal invasion, get rid of the anchor baby misinterpretation by the SCOTUS (not likely under Hillary), and repeal that 1965 act that opened the floodgates to 3rd worlders. A few is great, they add variety. What we have now, though, isn't that.

I invite you to come visit me in Houston if you want to see what that "immigration policy that has a chance of being codified" looks like. It looks like trash and crime everywhere, it looks like half the people at the grocery store in line ahead of you are paying with food stamps. it sounds like "press 2 for English, mosques popping up everywhere, etc. We are at critical mass. The country is gone unless we do something DRASTICALLY different than we have been doing since 1965. Even then it probably will be too late, as the moochers propagate at much higher rates than the producers. Eloi and Morlocks? We're pretty much there.

I voted Gary Johnson last go-round. Prior to that, I voted Constitution Party, only because I couldn't stand Bob Barr, the (L) nominee. I support the Libertarian Party.....and this election, I'm voting Trump, if for no other reason than his immigration policy. I like many of his other positions, I dislike a few, but immigration IS the issue. It just is. Come to Houston and see. Or don't, and it will come to you....and you won't like it.

And to drop this hammer on companies that do the hiring... the govt would need a good process to determine if a worker is here legally or not.

But why wait until they are actually working here to make the check; it's more efficient to use this "process" first at the borders, and in doing this makes the backup process (going after the actual companies) a lot less complicated.

It's like "the wall"; for every section built, it frees-up some of the resources that were stationed there - to better patrol the areas that don't have a wall yet.

The best method to keep illegals out of the couintry IMO is to not wait until that are already working in America. Oh, that is still needed though, but make that effort part of the fail-safe "safety net"... that catches the scant few that do get across a better secured border. Sadly, the past 6 years or so - the borders are practically wide open. Lets put our energy in stopping them there first; use these other plans as backups.
