Have either of you guys have a racquet ball hit you in the eye? I played w/o eye protection one time and sure enough got hit in the eye. Luckily no damage.

I've had success with Head and appreciate their racquets, but the Gearbox's are untouchable. 35 years of playing here. Best racquet ever.

I never tried a Gearbox maybe I'll get a demo from Racquetball Warehouse. Which one do you recommend I think I can demo up to four.

I've had the ball hit me in the jaw below the ear but never in the eye plus I always wear glasses. If you get hit directly in the eyes even with glasses it's gonna hurt bad..

I have deep eye sockets and have taken a direct hit in the eye. It didn't even knock out my contact at the time.

I had Lasik done about 7 years ago and I started wearing eye protection again, also because I played a lot of handball at the time. Handballs are smaller, and heavier. Fortunately, I had eye protection on at the time and I took 2 direct hits. Lately, I've been playing racquetball without eye protection. Call me crazy, but I have a lot of trouble keeping the glasses dry and being able to see. The prevent me from playing my best game. Knowing that I've taken a direct hit to the eye socket and been fine likely contributes to this behavior.

That being said, I'm fully aware that I can get hit in the eye with the edge of a racquet too.

When I was hit, it did cause the suction that you reference, but did not pull out my contact, nor damage my eye. After a quick check in the restroom, I was back on the court for the next point.

I do not condone playing without eye protection. Unfortunately, in my case, it's do as I say, not as I do.

Two of the players I play with recently got hit in the eye one had to get the retina re attached and the other got lucky but has been out for about two months now. Neither wore glasses but I bet they will now.

This is one of those games that the more you play the better you get providing you have some skills. You can't go out and play every 6 mo and expect to win. I play three times a week and still get beat once in a while.
