Never heard of them before. Maybe because I didn't eat much school food? Used lunch pails or brown bagged it from home until I was old enough to leave school grounds during lunch. Though I do remember going out of my way to get the apple cobbler a few times. That stuff was as good as grandma made.

I use Onion Soup Mix in mine. Dump the packet in a little bowl. Add a touch of water to get it soupy, then mix in a few lbs of meat.

Maybe it was the region, maybe the time (me, class of '68).

We never had burritos, pizza, or anything else like that. Just standard meat and potatoes-type meals.

They were 20¢ including milk.

Onion soup mix FTW!

It also makes a great base for beef stew or pot roast.
