There is nothing new about this. It is due diligence.
OK, I understand (most) of that, but how do you plan for a possible pandemic, when a tangible plan is outside of your allotted budget?

A good place to start...200% of hospital capacity. That's a dart at the board. It can be tweaked from there.

Project Managers ALWAYS budget for risk...or they should be immediately fired.

Nicole we are a nation of intelligent problem solving people but the MINUTE politics, corruption, and red tape come into the picture, the motivation instantly goes away. There are only so many times people are willing to beat their heads against the wall.

My wife saw on the news where some churches in GA and AL I think are still having open services peeps greeting each other hugging and hand shaking and what not. God will protect us, blood of Christ or some such. WTF people. Stay home.

Today from the surgeon general of the USA:
Quote:
U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams warned Sunday amid the coronavirus pandemic that the week ahead would be the “hardest and the saddest” of “most Americans’ lives.”
“This is going to be the hardest and the saddest week of most Americans’ lives,” Adams said on “Fox News Sunday."
“This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment, only it’s not going to be localized; it’s going to be happening all over the country,” Adams said.
He added, however, that there "is a light at the end of the tunnel if everyone does their part for the next 30 days."

Any guess as to how much they had ready for this pandenic?
Question:

OK, the Wu flu virus lives on the mask for what? 3 days, max? Why can't people who wear them daily just wear them for the day, then put them away for a few days, sitting unused, then retrieve it and wear it again?

Edit: We're assuming that it's put in a dry place, to prevent the possibility of mold growing on it.

That is not a bad idea. Problem with some of the N95 masks is that the filters get clogged after a certain amount of use, so even sanitizing will not render them usable again.

I think there are a lot of options, including ultraviolet vir/germicidal irradiation, probably the fastest turn around time.

My wife is doing that with her employees. They get a mask for every day of the week and recycle them for a few weeks.

It's some pretty straight forward calculations that you can probably get an app for your phone to do. Say you consume a million masks per year, and masks have a shelf life of 5 years. If you manage your inventory correctly, you should be able to have 2 yeas worth of regular consumption on the shelf at any given time, and not have to throw any expired masks away.

I don't know what method they are using, but my wife says the hospital has some way of sterilizing the masks we are delivering to them before they are used. This has to be done because neither of us has been tested and we have handle the masks when making them. The few we use ourselves we have been laundering after pulling the filter out.

The type of PPE that is used during this type of transmissible illness is not kept in that large of supply, as it is seldom used. As are the isolation rooms, we would in no way have sufficient positive pressure rooms, not possible. So the simple APP on your phone to figure it out is not applicable in this circumstance, you are trying to make something far to simplified. We are not talking about basic mask/PPE's.

You act as if calling you Doug~E was an insult, you no like Doug?

Now, had I called you Fishy Panties, that should have really got your butt hurt going.

Well, you don't. That's just it. We never did before during the other 30-something pandemics over the last 100 years. Not really. Not even close. We hedged our bets. Wash your hands, wear a face mask if you want, maybe wear one in XYZ situations as required. Close the public pools if it's transmitted efficiently that way, but don't close the schools unless that in and of itself is a major vector. Has there been any data at all that restaurants are a major vector for COVID-19? Not that I've seen.

We are all going to be exposed to this. They are saying 18 months before we have a vaccine. That's insane. We can't go that long just doing rolling shutdowns of society.

It's kinda this really:

Where do you have actual proof that COVID is listed on a death certificate when a patient has not had a positive test?

I don't watch the "news", so where did you garner this information?

Actually, to further my question above, I would also add, I am quite certain there are FAR more people dying from COVID that are not being tested and are NOT being reported.

Many rural places are getting smaller numbers of ARDS and people are dying, they have lower access even to big cities to testing, so those cases are not being reported.

The inaccuracies of the numbers can go both ways.

Direct statements from people who are just telling us this, that's what. Also that document from Ohio I posted up.

It's literally all over the place if you look for it. And I don't watch the "news" either because you'd be retarded to honestly, our media is the worst.

One of many examples, start it at about 2:36.
