He is right. Obama has always been for gay rights, but during the last election was oposed to gay marriage. Being a free thinker, and not really trusting anything that any politition says until it has been signed and made into policy/law/whatever...I have two trains of thoughts on it

A)he has always been for gay marriage, but knew that during the last election that voicing his stand on the subject would be suicide to his changes at the Presidency, so said he was against it

OR

B)is still againt it, but knows his number will be down in the poll, so he hopes that by "changing his mind" that he will draw the GLTB voters to him to get the extra votes.

Either way I am not voting for the black guy or the mormon, I don't trust either one of them as far as I can throw a blue whale...on election day I will be writing in a vote for Ron Fellows.

I like how it's ok for you to say you are against it, that it is a religious right and then claim it is your first ammedment right to voice your opinion on the subject, but when we voice our opinion, we are being whiny.

Also I think something that needs to be kept in mind for this argument is that now all members of the GLBT community are athiest heethens like me, there are MANY who have very strong christian beliefs and are very active members of the church, and their beleifs are important them, so even to the point (as some straight people) that they will not date outside their faith, or ask their partners to convert to their particular faith.

I looked through this thread and can't find any reference to "atheist heathens" before you mentioned it. What gives....

No, I feel marriage is a religious concept, that should be left to churches, or religious organizations....let the state issue and only recognize civil unions for both gay and straight couples...and let the church issue marriage certificates accordingly.
