"Hey, if he got this far for a jury trial, he's probably guilty." That'll work.

Well, perhaps but I'm 4.5 miles inside their You Drive radius. Perhaps when in deliberation.

No lawyers seen yet. They get to read my awesome questionnaire though. Found out that I really hate answering very VERY personal questions, and yet also love railing when served up a real loo loo.

Ever do any projects for law enforcement agencies? If so, make certain they know -- I've gotten bounced from two different trials during voire dire because we "help our customers catch bad people".

I'm not allowed to give any details of what is on that questionnaire but wow did they ask about that and much much more. I told the truth and let my feelings be known.

Take a Sherwin Williams paint shade sample. Tell them you can determine guide by the shade of the perp.

Does your job compensate you for jury duty? If so, that's a nice consolation prize for your time.

The last time Theresa got selected for jury duty, one of the women among the jury pool got out of it by wearing a revealing red dress that flossed off her robust PS rack.

The judge noticed the distraction and summarily dismissed her. She winked at my wife on the way out the door, adding, "See? That's how you get out of jury duty."

a number of years ago when I lived in Joplin, a buddy of mine was selected for Grand Jury duty in Springfield. He sat on a high profile murder case and was driving back and forth for almost a year.

Plead insanity and use the forum as a reference.

It will pay me but I will also be working at night when I get home, I can't just let problems pile up. Certain issues only I can take care of. $40/day plus 56 cents/mile isn't much.

It would come out to about $200/week plus $395 for mileage/week - but I'd be driving over 700 miles each week.

Let me know what day it is. Maybe I'll drive down and meet you for dinner. My friends and I do this quite often to go to Alexander's. You'll love it--you get to pick and grill your own steak, texas toast, etc.

Sounds good! I'll make sure my wife comes up with me that day. Haven't ate there yet.

Will you make this point to the judge or just suck it up as part of your civic duty and privilege? I've never been called to serve, but my wife has twice in the 18 years we've been married.

I've already explained it in the questionnaire, but not as an excuse - they asked. I also told them that I did not want to serve, but gave no hard reasons why I can't.

You should have seen what some people came in wearing. I dress better when I go to a dirt track race. I was the only person in the entire jury pool wearing slacks/tie/sport coat.

One guy had a "Suicidal Tendencies" t-shirt and jeans so ripped up you could see his underwear.

I wasn't there, but she may have been trying to holler at my wife. She gets hit on often by both men and women. The last time she got selected for jury duty it was for a case involving an Indian ER doc who was being cheated out of his salary by the hospital.

The doctor won his case. He kept trying to invite us to his home for tea (i.e. code for, "meet me later for a payment arrangement" but we kept telling him he'd best keep comments like that under his vest, especially within earshod of the attorneys representing the hospital!

Maybe I can finally get my wife to try it. She thinks we are crazy for driving several hours to cook our own steak.

I've eaten at just about every steakhouse in Chicago...These guys really do have good meat.
