That's certainly a reasonable possibility. Extremophiles could handle the journey and it is very possible that rocks could have gone to Mars from Earth and from Mars to Earth. I think that's part of the reason they are searching for signs of life on Mars. They could see if there is any DNA in common with life on Earth. That would make a pretty compelling argument for panspermia.
