Nowadays, since I quit the daily "work" grind 2 years ago,
better than before. Retired now, but working to keep occupied while the SO
takes care of her 91 y/o mother.

Still wake up in the middle of the night, but generally get back to sleep ok.
Used to wake up at 1-2am, start thinking about what I had to get done at
work, and stay awake until 10 minutes before the alarm went off.

Don't use an alarm anymore. (well, a handful of times in a year)

I have never been a "good sleeper", but if I don't go overboard on the beers (rarely go overboard since the diabetes set in), I can usually hit the pillow about 10 pm, fall asleep more or less right away, get up to pee at about 1:30, and get back to sleep right away until about 4 am. I consider that a 6 hour night of sleep, and if I don't **** up, that's usually enough.

****ing up usually consists of staying up too late, or letting the shit in life get to me such that the above doesn't happen. On a "****ed up" night, I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours of real sleep, and sometimes almost no "real" sleep with some "half sleep" mixed in. That sucks.

Christmas Eve, my son got home around 10 pm. We ate and BSed until about 1 am. I crashed, and didn't move until 7:30 am, a 6.5 hour run without so much as a pee break. Damn, that was nice.

If I'm on vacation, I go to sleep at 11:00pm and wake up at 7:00am. When I go to work, it may be a different story, especially on those Mondays when I have to go into work. I have to get up at 3:30am to catch the train, so I go to bed at about 9:00pm, and that takes me a while to fall asleep, so on those Mondays, I probably don't get that much sleep. On the other days when I work from home, I go to bed between 10-11pm and wake up at 6:30am.
If I drink too much fluids in the evening, then I usually get up in the middle of the night to take a leak. I don't ever recall not being able to sleep.

Stranger still, I am under virtually no stress whatsoever. I’m retired, so life is good. Just can’t sleep.
I get that also. Some nights after going back to sleep the dreams are so fuked up makes me more tired, i have times I wake up same time every night almost to the minute also. Ive stayed up all night waiting for any noises at those times also, nope it's just me. If i wake up after 330am no way in hell can I sleep again for some reason.
If I have anything I'm worried about I won't sleep but maybe an hr for days at a time but I really don't have anything to worry about 99% of the time to begin with.
I also rarely if ever sleep past 715am no matter what time goto bed. I slept until 10 one morning and my son thought I may have died and checked on me. I had been up all night for some reason and didn't fall asleep until 730.

We had a verlo. Nice mattress. Handmade. Reversible. But we both like very plush soft mattresses and went back to beatyrest black with pillow top. Pricey but well worth it.

I don’t sleep well. In bed around 10. Wake up to pee at 1, snack some protein and end up on the couch till 6.

Past 4 years have been crazy with young kids that like to wake up at 4-5 am

I sleep great on the couch and I like to use a soft blanket as a pillow. I can shape it anyway I want. Pillows have always been my cryptonite. Should do some research next time I’m at target

I've slept like shit my entire adult life.
Last spring a friend recommended CBD oils and holy shit...I've never slept this well.

I have since recommended it to three other people and they've had great results as well.
It took a week or two for me to notice anything, but one friend said she slept like a baby the first night.
In fact, she just told me tonight that she had her father try it over Christmas and he already placed his own order...he slept so well.

Call it placebo all you want, I don't care.
As far as the conscience goes...not an issue.
