Matt Painter is a fraud. He has no idea how to make adjustments or make his team start playing.

Purdue was playing without their best defender and point guard without Kelsey Barlow and with a very short bench with Barlow out and Hart still hurt.

You can only lose so many players and keep winning. If you look at the Pre-season starting lineup there were only 2 starters left at the end of the season (JJ and Moore).

You say he's a fraud... I say most teams would have lost 10+ games under those circumstances rather than fighting for the Big 10 title. Once Hummel got hurt, they were picked to finish 6th in the conference. How good would tOSU be without Sullinger? How good would UConn be without Walker? That is what Purdue dealt with this season and for the most part did a hell of a good job.

Look at their last 3 losses and tell me why they continued doing the same stupid things the entire game instead of changing. A good coach makes adjustments. Painter stopped coaching the last 4 games.

What adjustments do you want him to make??? There is only so much you can do with the talent that he had. They had 2 players on the team that were legitimate starters and 3 guys who were 2nd-3rd string at best.

The only person with ANY size was JJ. They had a "point guard" in Jackson who can't shoot at all, and E'Twaun Moore is about the most average 2,000 point scorer in NCAA history. If a team can stop Johnson and Moore, they can stop the entire offense. The other 3 guys on the floor aren't going to beat you. It isn't too hard to figure that out.

That Purdue team without Hummel, Hart, and Barlow had less talent than Michigan State from top to bottom. Is Izzo a fraud? They had WAY less talent than Louisville. Is Pitino a fraud?

That team played out of their asses and leaned 100% on 2 players for a 34 game season because they had no choice but to do so. If the day after Robbie Hummel got hurt you said that that team would win 26 games (with Hart out as well for over half of the season), beat the best team in the country, and finish 2nd in the Big 10 nobody would have believed you.

There are a whole lot of teams that wish they had a fraud coach capable of that.

... as a Purdue grad... I am obviously not happy about losing to VCU. In fact, It is downright depressing, but to say Matt Painter is a fraud is ignorant.

That team played better this year than ANYBODY imagined they would... and if you are going to blame the coach for the losses, you better give him credit for that part as well.

EDIT: Too bad Purdue doesn't follow the Ohio State precedent... he could have suspended Barlow for a few games that don't matter next season instead of suspending his best defensive player at the start of the NCAA tournament.
