I wouldn't make it the law of the land but I'm not going to shed a tear over a career scumbag, either. I don't get the impression from the article that the employees confronted the perpetrator and said scumbag said, "OK, you got me," and went with them quietly.

Correct. Which has nothing whatsover in common with this thread. Zimmerman was attacked, these three security guards were not. If they had followed company policy, the police would have taken over.

One of my sons best friend works for a large local company doing security work. He is a big tough fellow. They normally send at least 3 people to get a shoplifter. He says it’s normal for most perps to run & fight, or fight & run. Most have knives or razor type box cutters and will use them in an attempt to get away.

He has a few years of doing this and has said many times the worst offenders are one particular minorities woman. They will put up a hell of a fight and are just downright vicious. He says the males are much easier to gain control of in a bad situation. He is out of the nasty work as he is now in a supervisory position and mostly an office jock.

Apparently you CAN fix stupid. That guy won't be a problem any more.

Problem is, the guard IS going to be in a heap of trouble and likely take the perp's place in the pokey.

Kudos to him for stopping the crime, but boo for it ending the way it did. If the perp was carrying weapons, the story may end differently though.

I fail to have ANY sympathy for those who are injured or killed during the commission of a crime. The lawsuits that result from a crook being shot while breaking into somebody's home and getting shot are ridiculous.

THIS is how they should ALL go:

Judge: "Was it your home/car/tv, etc?"
Perp: "No."
Judge: "Tough shit, next time, you better hope they aren't home or miss, otherwise I'll be signing your death certificate. Case dismissed."
