1 set of tires for GRN Envy -- to race the whole season

Ah, what the hell. Marcus is a good kid and puts down good lap times. I'll kick in $50. Where do I send the money? Can't do Paypal.

We burned $45 worth of gas on Sunday alone. The car gets 2.8 MPG on race weekends. Obviously, the wear and tear on the drive-train is not measurable, but very real. The cost of the car, repairs, and depreciation don't even factor into the cost of running it.

For 1 driver, the real cost of tires in this car is 1/6th of the tires + mounting/balancing. $1,800/6 events is $300 in tires alone. I've spent nearly $25,000/year for the last three years racing this car.

I've shared the driving experience with NUMEROUS PEOPLE. oyealiz, Burnt_C6, and many many others.

Marcus is the first driver to come along with POTENTIAL. It's worth pursuing.

Christ, he broke my fender liner (only 1 month old) on his first two runs the previous month. He offered up his checkbook to pay his way and I declined. Kid has class. I want to see him win. I really do. If he gets to the point that he can kick my ass, then I've done my job.

It sounds like Marcus has the potential. I sure hope we make this happen.

I would love to do what you guys are doing but just can't afford the tires myself.

I can live vicariously through you guys though.

Definitely a Forum Pet Project.

I know drivers. I'm the lead instructor and deal with 20+ new drivers every month. I drive their cars, I take them for rides in my car, I have a lot of reference.

I've had MANY MANY n00b co-drivers in the past (an entire season's worth) and the absolute FASTEST driver before Marcus was 9 SECONDS SLOWER on Sunday. The worst (my brother-in-law ) was 25 seconds slower. For Marcus to break the 5-second barrier on his first Sunday, AND finish 18th out of 69 drivers in raw time is MONUMENTAL.

For reference, I was 12 seconds behind the class winner the first time I ran my '05 C6 in my first race. Granted it was stock and on street tires and Marcus is in the fastest car at the track, but the many others before him were in the same car and sucked balls.

It truly takes the right person to be good at this stuff.

The cool part of this, should you make it happen, is I will post videos from each event that Marcus runs. You should be able to visually see him getting faster. When I can post my run from run this past Sunday, you will see how violent a difference 5 seconds make, but as he grows and learns, he will be there.

I am flying the reigning Super Stock National Champion into Fort Myers (likely in November) to come run my car. His name is Matthew Braun and he's similar in size to Marcus. He has been virtually untouchable on the National Tour in the past 3 years. I will have a data logger and video camera on for all of his/mine/ (and Marcus') runs when he's here. This guy is an alien. Being able to see what someone like that does behind the wheel is a priceless education.
