This is the son of a friend of mine "Berdogo"

Cool little kid that always looks like he needs his face washed..

I bought this set of cars for him (25 small cars)

This set cost 120 peso for an example, (about $3.00)



Notice that necklace he is wearing? it contains all the necessary stuffs to keep Voodoo away...

I will start thinking about how the Barn can go about raising money for these kids.

To be honest..... the thought of raising funds for the kids here has passed through my mind a few times, but I did not want to seem like I had my hand out to the guys and gals here.

I am glad you also see the need..

If you get this thread started when the time comes, no one will even think twice about it..


I am all in for what I can do on this end, including tossing in a few bucks of my own.

I will wait and let you decide when to get this started, maybe this coming fall sometime? Sept, Oct?

I agree it is a great thing we can do for the little ones that would never get anything from Santa.. ever!! .. their family's simply can not afford..


As I mentioned in another thread awhile back..

I had asked my wife once years ago who never got anything as a child for Christmas, EVER! if she believed in Santa when she was a kid...

She simply replied.... yes, she did believe in Santa...

But she did not believe that he brought presents to the kids.

You say 300 kids at $3 each? So we need $1000?

Yes, we will be collecting money for the kids to ensure they all have a very Merry Christmas.

Hang tight on the money thing - I want to see what method Tim wants us to send him money. I am not sure if this will be easy to do since he is on the other side of the world.

I had kinda forgotten this thread from last year but happy to see that you brought it back up Dixie.



I really do not know how many kids there are here in our village, but it is a bunch.

I'm going to guess somewhere 250 to 400 kids, but I need to go ask the Barangay Captain to find out a better guess.
(He probably does not even know for sure)

I do have paypal here when the time comes, but want to hold off till we know more what is going on.

I do know of a wholesale place in the city, (not sure what kind of Toy selection they have) but I will be going down there to Cebu City late this month, so will stop by there to see if we can make the dollars stretch even farther.

If we pull this off, I will make sure to get lots of photos.


Any chance you can round up a borrowed Santa suit and come be Santa Claus in person Rob?

I don't want to exclude any kid because of age - but I know we may have to set some sort of limit. Let's see how many kids we are talking about first

As for PayPal....if you have an account, I would rather just people PP the $$ to you so we have less hops/hands involved to get the money to you.

Go do your exploration - and I too have couple of things I have been thinking about since last year on how to raise some money for this. Let's all do what we can for the kids - because that is what this is all about.

Even if it is $5 donation - that is two kids that might not be getting anything because their families cannot afford it.

Tim - I will PM you so we can work out the logistics.
