Default Here’s a true FJB…. Auto disabler in cars

Buried In Biden’s Infrastructure Bill Is A Mandatory Backdoor Kill Switch For Your Car

DETROIT – One of the most concerning things we’ve heard so far is the revelation that Biden’s Trillion Dollar Infrastructure bill includes a measure mandating vehicle backdoor kill-switches in every car by 2026. The clause is intended to increase vehicle safety by “passively monitoring the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired,” and if that sentence doesn’t make your hair stand on end, you’re not thinking about the implications.

Let us spell it out for you: by 2026, vehicles sold in the US will be required to automatically and silently record various metrics of driver performance, and then make a decision, absent any human oversight, whether the owner will be allowed to use their own vehicle. Even worse, the measure goes on to require that the system be “open” to remote access by “authorized” third parties at any time.

The passage in the bill was unearthed by former Georgia Representative Bob Barr, writing over at the Daily Caller. Barr notes correctly that this is a privacy disaster in the making. Not only does it make every vehicle a potential tattletale (possibly reporting minor traffic infractions, like slight speeding or forgetting your seat-belt, to authorities or insurance companies), but tracking that data also makes it possible for bad actors to retrieve it.

Would never track a car under "regular" insurance. Track insurance for track days, and no insurance for racing. Can't wait for the workarounds...

This is even worse, but not much, than the blow and drive. Can you buy aftermarket clean breath like the dimwads buy clean urine?

When i had mine in my Z06, the installer hooked up the positive cable for the device to some solenoid under the hood that shut down after the car started. That meant only had to use it to start the car then no random checks afterwards.

Not the same as a total bypass, but then again, I am sure there are ways.

Looks like my kids/grandkids need study electronics, and learn to bypass that crap, disable the entire function......

The left have been pushing for this for years. Yet they refuse to make DUI a more serious offense and then let the serial drunks out to drive again over and over again.

Had a production manager that had a several dui's. A device was installed on his car in which he had to blow in it. If he had been drinking the car would not start.

What is proposed is bad enough, but made even worse by considering that, as the car ages, and shit breaks.....this is not only just something else that will break, it will be something that, when it breaks, leaves you stranded and in need of a tow.

When your heated seats, or other BS option quits, OK, no big deal. When the car stops on the side of the road, or you can't start it.....that's a problem.

Throw in up front costs on vehicles which are already way too high.

You know the enxt step is going to be mandatory breathalyzers

And those things can be set off by gum, pizza dough, toothpaste, etc...

Already been discussed, and they were careful how they worded it in the bill.

I believe it went from being about driving under the influence to checking all kinds of metrics.

Yet something else to learn how to disable.....not that it's a BAD device....just a PITA to deal with and will ALWAYS be when we drivers least afford the inconvenience......

There has to be something in the constitution to prevent this kind of intrusion by the government.

Yes, everyone knows that they can disable a vehicle.
What they can't do (yet) is monitor your bodily movements and bio-metrics to make that decision.

Yeah, but we're talking about a tracking device, not a breathalyzer interlock.
