Default 18psi is a little low for a truck tire

fired up the truck to take a bill to the mailbox, dashboard has a warning, low pressure, right front, 18psi. should be 60psi cold. uh oh.

cancel lunch plan, get out tools, find and fix the leak. little screw right between the high points on the tread. sigh.

reamed it out (Knooger style), plugged it up (more Knooger activity), filled back with air. don't have a proper air compressor (think i might get one now), so had to use the little air compressor on my portable jumper battery pack. that was a fun 45 minutes of waiting.

all fixed, put things away, then lunch.

two hours that i had other plans for.

I couldn't live with my 2 air compressors. One 80 gal and one pancake.
For your needs a small pancake would suffice, mine will air up a flat LT tire with 2 cycles. Car n lawn stuff in one. I just put a flexy cord on it. Great for cleaning something that can't be removed(or too hard too) also. Wheels are your friends.

My truck tires go all the way to zero during Summer months. Slow leak on both passenger side tires. Been that way since they were new. Keep threatening to have them remounted but that's a long drive.

During Winter I top them off every few weeks, before a long ride, or heavy hauling. Have a decent compressor though. Don't need to refill the tank until Spring and with a V-twin motor that doesn't take long. Just gotta remember to unplug the freezer first because it pops the breaker on cold oil. Thing is a beast

I think I would have taken them back to the dealer when they didn't hold air immediately after you bought them. That's crazy that you keep topping them off all the time.

It's PITA but it only takes a few minutes. Nearest tire store means an hour of driving and that sounds like a bigger PITA to me. Maybe I can get one of my grandkids to do it for me?

Don’t forget your spare tire pressure too. Mine was less than 20 lbs when I was prepping for a trip with the RV.
