Default Who buys firewood ?

My son-in-law who works out every day just bought a cord of firewood ... I always felt that if you were going to buy wood, you might as well use natural gas or oil....
I always cut and chopped, split and stacked my own wood......but these days with living on the beach I have a gas fireplace......I told my wife that if he did that it's a better work out then what he does.

Ah wood the fuel that heats you more than once.

When you cut it down, when you split it, when you stack it, when you carry into your house, when you burn it, when you clean it up and take the ashes out.--

for about 4 years I tried heating mainly with wood, using my fuel oil furnace as a backup.

I burned 2 to 3 cords each winter. I had no source for this much firewood... so I bought it.

At the time ... fuel oil prices had skyrocketed and I did save money on winter heating even though I was paying for the wood.

In this 21st century, I haven't a clue as to how much a seasoned cord of hardwood sell for.

Not chopping wood with my bad back. It's also messy.

I use a Harmon Pellet Stove though. Heats for half the price of natural gas, paid for itself the first season. Have 5 tons of pellets stacked in the garage to get me through this Winter (one ton per month with continual use). The pellets are in 40 pound plastic bags stored 50' from the stove which is refilled twice a day. Dump ashes twice a month. That's plenty of exercise at my age
