Summbitch was heavier than expected but will be fun to see what I can do with it. I still haven't posted up pics of "deck mahal", but figured I'd wait until the fireplace, fire table, water fall etc were done. Scott

No soft spots or caves in that big chunk and I'd stand by my weight guess. Scott

Let's see those wood stoves......?
I just reinstalled this old Woodsman, after a complete internal rebuild and stove polished. It's relined with new firebrick and a new 3/8" custom made baffle. This is after removing a expensive POS Vermont casting cast iron stove.....The instructions for the Vermont say not to burn a fire over 500*......good F in luck.....the normal temps on the thermo reads 700*. This resulted in damage to the internals and replacement of several part, at a huge cost. Now this Woodsman is 100% Steel, heats up quickly and holds the heat all night, it's awesome! |

Split firewood today with Mike's log splitter. Powered by a 8hp Briggs and Stratton with a 1-3/4" diameter ram in a 32 ton hydraulic cylinder. Still had to muscle the firewood up but much easier than using a maul.
First pic is one of the walnut chunks I split. About 8" thick and about 30" in diameter. Second is split walnut Third is split hickory from the 16" branch I took down early spring. The unsplit pieces are from the latest felling and will be split next weekend ( if it doesn't rain ) |

Took off early from work and split some more firewood. Should be able to finish this weekend. Not sure if I can muscle the three big pieces up onto the splitter myself . They're about 12" thick and 30" in diameter.
