Default Salmon recipes

O.K. Since I can't use a grill or a smoker at my apartment complex, i need some salmon recipes that I can cook in the house without making it smell like liberal polices or Adog's van down by the river.

My doc gave me a freezer full of salmon fillets that he caught in Alaska a few weeks ago and said they will help with my high blood pressure....plus, i like salmon.

Whatcha got?

Do you have an Air Fryer? I have been wanting to try an Air Fryer Salmon recipe, just haven't got around to it.

I have baking tins, crock pot, instapot, pots & pans, and cast iron skillet. That's it. Nice and simple.

I almost always grill it but last night cooked some on the stove. Just pepper, a little salt, and cooked in a non stick skillet with a little olive oil. I prefer it grilled but it was still good.

Did it stink up the house like cooking fish is known to do? Did you do it with the lid on or off of the pan? how long per inch of thickness and at what temp?

See, I'm paranoid about bad odors because I have no sense of smell.

1) fry in pan in light olive oil, skin side down first, press it into the pan for a bit with spatula or it curls and you'll just burn the edges, then flip and let it finish cooking. This makes crispy skin too.

2) in a glass pan, coat bottom with olive oil, in goes salmon (assuming no skin). bake for 20 minutes on 350. Can use butter instead of oo too

season either/both to your liking.

2 questions.... what temp for the fry pan and how long do you cook the fillet?

How do you get the skin off? Peeling, fillet knife?

Wrap fillets in foil with a little olive oil and seasoning. Throw them on the George Forman grill for about six or seven minutes.

Marinate skinless fillets in Teriyaki or Soy sauce for several hours.....

Medium-high heat for pan, put in some butter, then add the salmon let cook about 1/2 way through, BUT ONLY FLIP ONCE!!!

Terror Yaki is better then Soy......

This is wife Linda's WONDERFUL way of cooking Slamon.....

I LOVE IT!!! I sprinkle just a light dash of salt on it....

She preheats oven to 350 Places the salmon on a baking sheet. She mixes butter and lemon and pours it on the salmon Puts garlic in small slits in the fish then bakes it 25-30 min or until the salmon is easily flaked with a fork. Then serve it with potatoes and corn.

Lay out a sheet of foil, slather with butter, lay filet skin side down.

Dice onions, tomatoes. Smear Mayo over salmon, cover with diced onions/ tomatoes.

Pick foil closed over filet.

Cook @ 350, check with fork in the thick part ~6 -8 min. and if flakes, it’s done.. if not, cook a little longer. Cooks fast easy cook, easy clean.

Been doing Coho and Alaska filets I bring back this way for years. Can’t go wrong

I like teriyaki salmon in the oven. I use an authentic teriyaki marinade (not the syrupy, sugary stuff you buy in the store). This is an authentic marinade from Nox’s mom.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (good quality - Not that La Choy stuff. Kikkoman works just fine.)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tbs rice vinegar
  • 3 tbs honey
  • 1 tbs Fresh Grated Ginger (grated finely-peel it before grating because it has a tough skin)
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic

Directions
  1. Mix all ingredients and stir well.
  2. Pour into large ziplock bag.
  3. Put salmon into the ziplock bag squeeze all the air out.
  4. Marinade in refrigerator for 24 hours.
  5. Shake and turn bag occasionally to remix ingredients and to marinate evenly on all sides.

After marinating, cook it the way you want: grill, smoker, pan, oven.

If you want to use the marinade as a sauce, don’t discard it. Bring it to a boil and then lower the heat to reduce the sauce. (Or if you don’t want to take the time to reduce it, you can bring to boil and then lower the heat and use a thickener.)

I've always heard that fresh salmon (fish in general) won't smell bad. Unfresh, yeah, that'll get some attention.

I always grill and it doesn't seem to attract cats or horny blind men.

Salmon doesn't smell as much as some fish, fish in general shouldn't. Old man worked in fish wharehouse, if fish smelled strong it wasn't fresh. I spent many a Saturday morning in the wharehouse as a little kid.

True. If it smells like a bad date you're supposed to walk away.
