I love my country. I hate the politicians that are in charge of it now. I don't think I could put on a uniform and take orders or direction from them. No leadership and an entire different set of values.

Watching a newsperson describe the armament we have including 130 gunships. We could easily give the Taliban a warning and then clean a 15 mile radius around the Kabul airport, but the ROE just won't allow it. Why do we always do this?

Death toll now at 13, meaning some poor bastard actually survived for a while, probably in excruciating pain, only to die later on the table.





Unrelated, but I remember once we were working at a storage facility....a company that had big tank farms where they stored chemicals/petroleum, etc. for other customers. They were building a new tank, and we heard all the plant alarms go off. Turns out, a couple of the tank builders fell from the under construction top, down to the steel plate on top of the concrete base. One lived long enough to make it to the hospital. Poor bastard. It would have been better to just die instantly.
