Confederate Named Military Bases

I know some anti-patriot groups want to rename these bases, so I don't believe any has changed yet.

Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina is named for Confederate Gen. Braxton Bragg.

Fort A.P. Hill is named for Ambrose Powell Hill, who was killed in the Civil War.

Fort Lee is named for Gen. Robert E. Lee, perhaps the most famous Confederate general.

Fort Pickett is named for Maj. Gen. George Pickett, who led an eponymous, ill-fated charge in the Battle of Gettysburg.

Fort Gordon is home to the US Army Cyber Corps and Signal Corps.
Gordon rose to become a Confederate general.

Fort Benning, also in Georgia, is named for Brig. Gen. Henry Benning, who was born in Georgia.

Fort Rucker is named after Col. Edmund Rucker. Edmund Rucker was a Confederate colonel.

Louisiana’s Camp Beauregard is named for Gen. Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard. Beauregard was a West Point graduate, and championed the use of what we now recognize as the Confederate flag.

Louisiana’s Fort Polk is named for Lt. Gen. Leonidas Polk. Polk was a second cousin of US President James Polk, and died during the Battle of Atlanta.

Fort Hood is named for Confederate Gen. John Bell Hood.

I spent a lot of time at Gordon, Hood, Benning, some at Bragg (Fayettenam) as a contractor, and some at Rucker. At least I never made it to Ft. Puke, LA.

Dems had that in one of their bills and it was passed. It will happen.

Bragg was an ass to his men. Starved them, etc..it was said he would execute a man with the drop of a hat and drop the hat himself. Hood killed many at a ludicrous final charge at Franklin, TN. Many think after all his wounds he was mentally ill and high on pain killers and never should have taken command of the entire AOT at Atl.

They should have named one for Patrick Cleburne, one of the best in the CSA. Along, with N.B. Forrest.

I wish they would not change the base names. This all started with Clinton in the 90's. Someone said back then their goal was to change every street name, monument, school name, etc...that had anything to do with the CSA.

There is a highschool here in the Westside of Jax, FL named....Westside high school. It is mainly a high density black population area now compared to when I was just starting elementary school in the area (when Cecil Field Naval Air Station was still open).

Anyway, they thought it would be best to change it to that name because the original was racist and kept the kids from learning in school

It was called Nathan B. Forrest High School. Now it's a real gun and knife show for the feral animals who bother to show up.
