Yes he absolutely was. Have to dig up the picture. Apparently there was a “staged” picture Ana them there were the non staged pictures. He was in the unstaged pictures. Very proud of his sacrifice as such a young man and ALL THOSE that have paid the ultimate price. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸

Great picture! Wish I could still ask my dad about his days in the war but when I did I didn’t get very long answers. I have several old pictures of places he was stationed but I don't know anything about them. When I was younger I didn't seem to care, now I'd love to find out more.

Common with that generation. My dad was a tail gunner on a bomber in the Korean War. They got shot down. That’s all I know as he never talked about it and he’s gone now. They served their country, came home, got a job, got married and raised a family. No whining or expectations of special treatment because they served.

The only photo I have and cherish (he’s kneeling second from left):

Grandpa (Pop) seldom talked about the events of his service or how he was awarded the medals he was given. He was forever extremely proud to have served as a Marine.

My grandparents never slept in the same bedroom as after his return he would wake up with I guess night terrors and was choking her one time. They didn’t talk about those things back then but I assume PTSD from the atrocities he had seen. Cannot imagine as a teen the things he saw and did that he never spoke of. 🇺🇸 So much respect.
