NJ School Student does project glorifying Hitler

So a NJ teacher saw no issues with a student glorifying Hitler?

Let's say that student did a project on "glorifying the slavery in the Confederacy prior to the Civil War".

Would that be considered "ok" by the teacher?

Did the student actually "glorify" Hitler, or simply provide facts?

Just because Hitler was a despicable person, doesn't mean that his history did not occur.

It far better to suppress any actual facts about Hitler than to have the general public know them. It might offend vegetarians to find out he was vegetarian for humanitarian reasons. Or that part of his popularity was pulling Germany out of the depression after WW1 that was heavily contributed to by war reoperations. Far better to ignore him, so nobody can see the next time somebody like him rising to power.

Funny how I have yet to met an avowed Anti-N azi who can name a single other member of the Party leadership.....

Little information as to what exactly the assignment looked like but this is of some interest.

The assignment completed last week by a fifth-grade student at Maugham Elementary School was met with outrage from parents who say the teacher failed by allowing the student to praise Hitler for his "accomplishments."

Regardless of what you think of Hitler, getting an entire nation goose-stepping in your honor is an accomplishment.

As a Jew, if the student *did* come up with valid points, while a despicable human being, I think well...

My big peeve is that let's compare Hitler with anybody from the Confederacy.

Let's say the student wrote that Robert E. Lee was one of the greatest military Generals of all time (true). Or that slavery was a good thing for economic prosperity in the South.

How would society have reacted differently?

My guess is that if the student wrote "pro-slavery" things by glorifying Robert E Lee or saying it was positive for the economics of the South, the student would be expelled and teacher fired if teacher didn't reprimand student.

But Jews won't react by threatening violence, so...

It's okay.

History is nothing if not a record of “victims” and “perpetrators”. Hitler was hardly a one off example of evil and his rise to power could have been prevented if the public had not been victimized by other bad actors.

Hitler was little man that should never have risen to his place in history. He stated what his goals were in Mein Kampf, while he was in prison. Sad fact is that France, Germany, and the US caused WW2 by their action at the end of WW1
