Damn tuner wants me to drive to Orlando for dyno pulls, 6-hour round trip, $500 to him and $250 in fuel and $30 tolls and $30 Skoal and $100+ lunch for all--I am requesting a remote tune, as IMO 25% more air into engine can be done on a computer.
+ $500 Pair of new rear tires
For the trip

Yeh but was all relative. 10mpg was no biggie when gas was under 25cents a gal

As a 3rd year toolmaker apprentice, I was only making $3.75 or so per hour. Everything has gone up roughly 8-10x. Cars, gas, houses, wages, etc.

I bought that RR when it was only one model year old from a workmate, in the fall of 1970.

I paid $2,500 for it; the sticker, as I recall, was about $3,600.

My starter home, in 1975, was $22,000.

So, 50 years later, just add a zero to the end of everything.

Dropped off car this AM with tech, not tuner, hopefully tech can get tune file from tuner, download it, and fix a few issues.

Of course NEVER drop off your car with tech without new mods, so I am now fixing an air intake bottle neck, as had Halltech 4" and will replace with Cordes 5"--work of art!!
This should get me max boost from factory blower, which, along with snout, is ported.
Should go from 13.5 psi to about 16 psi, and in my novice understanding, each psi should also get me more HP.
Last dyno was 720 rwhp, so I think I may get close to 800 rwhp, and still not have any traction with street Michelins--time to step up my game with Toyos.

Of course I have yet to address fuel system maybes, as not sure how high the injectors will cycle, do not want to pay for an fuel system with stock cubes and factory blower, as if have to spend that money for a fuel system will ditch the factory blower, maybe F-1A-94.

Below are the pics of the tube and airbox, found a very local powdercoating dood, did it in a day, he quoted $125, I gave him $200, as when you are a baller, you need to keep all your support people happy!!
Should match the coils, if not, do not comment!!

You should have kept the RR, as few since then have more appeal.

Hah, yes. I sold it after I got married (1/1/'72), not because she wanted me to, I just did for some reason. I taught her how to drive a stick with that car, she was so happy she'd learned how to do it.

I think I have some pix around somewhere of that car, but not sure where they are. If I ever find them, I'll scan and post.

When I had my TRX, 6.8mpg would have made me smile.

I can ignore the dander but what about the check engine light? That would drive me crazy. Hopefully the tune helps and are you just doing mail tuning or is it actually going to be live remote tuning? Sounds like they just sent you a file.

Was dynoed tuned at Holley / Diablosport main facility.
They are famous for handhelds, but the tuners there are top-tier, all have tuned 1,000s of cars on the dyno, I know them all, they treat me like family, as I have have done ALL their purchase and refi mortgages, have known them for 20 years.

Dyno tune was all day, 7+ hours, 4 pulls on 93, 3 on e85, worked well, then I started throwing 2101 code about three weeks ago.
That went away with some file work BUT 1101 is the new code that cannot be cleared--both throw the CEL, and both **** with timing and power, the 2101 left me dead on the road three times in one evening, I sat and waited five minutes each time and it did start back up, but in limp mode.

My tech is getting files emailed, when new file is downloaded he repllies to tuner with the most recent data logging.
Tuner answers the phone if he has questions, so akin to remote.

Ten days ago the 103mm TB was replaced, as data logging showed the blade on TB was inconsistent, also showed at flutter at idle.

With the new TB on the problem is not fully solved, still throwing 1101.
AND NOW, I have an electrical drain, battery is only six months old and is having issues, I will get a new one today gratis as within first 12 months.
My concern is will the new battery have a drain issue caused by tune, which is above my pay grade--if not the tune, what killed the battery.

Shit ALWAYS gets old with modded cars, but I know this.

I may have to drive to Orlando and visit the raccoon farm while getting in a few dyno sessions--that will kill an entire Saturday, 6 AM - 9 PM.

The Caddy V2 is the backup, BUT it now has a fuel leak, as auxillary pump is mounted on side of tank and the drilled hole no longer has silicon around it--few things are as big as a PITA than draining a gas tank.

One day, one day, I swear to myself I will buy a performance car and leave it stock--who am I kidding, as if the next one is a C8Z or BWing, I will blow them up too.

Depends where you are. If you live in the San Francisco Bay area and have that income, you would be below poverty line. In Central Alabama, you'd be king with that income.

I'm approaching $200k per year and that's enough for a decent living in Central Florida but in Northern or Southern California, I'd barely get through with that.
In my area, the median HOUSEHOLD income is $52k..
