Always liked him and the show but that Torino was a pig...and originally the show was supposed to have been a Camaro.

Fun Fact: the '74-'75-'76 Torinos used all had 351 engines ranging from 162 HP to 225 HP. They were so gutless that the cars were equipped with (IIRC) 5:35 rear gears just so they could do burnouts during the chase scenes. Both actors disliked the cars due to poor handling and power, and getting tossed around on the bench seat. But the car was a hit with the audience, so it stuck.

A '74-'76 Camaro would have only been a slight improvement, with the smog-choked 350 or 305. These cars were turds, but handled well and did have bucket seats. I must have worked on hundreds of Camaros and Torinos of this vintage back in the day. They were everywhere.

The 305. Exhaust ports like a dog's hind leg. Can't make any power if the heads don't flow.

I knew some people that chose the 305 over the 350 in the pickup trucks of the era for 'economy'. Turns out they got less MPG than the bigger 350 because they were always under more load to keep up with the payload or speed or grade. So you got a slow, underpowered gas hog with questionable build quality. I remember people at the time thought the v8 Monza was a hot car. It was a 145HP POS that was hard to work on and fell apart and did nothing well at all. I remember the clutch cables used to saw through the firewall on the stick shift versions. Total crap.
