Default Loyalty Explained: Dog Rides on Outside of Ambulance Rather Than Leave His Person

Texas rancher's dog hitches ride on ambulance

Associated Press

MASON, Texas (AP) — A dog named Buddy didn't wait for an invitation when his 85-year-old owner had to go to the hospital.

Four-year-old Buddy hitched a ride on the outside of the ambulance carrying Texas rancher J.R. Nicholson to Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Ranch hand Brian Wright said Friday that he summoned the ambulance Oct. 26 when Nicholson felt dizzy.

The San Angelo Standard-Times (Dog catches a ride on ambulance to be with owner - San Angelo Standard Times ) reports a motorist flagged down the ambulance to say a dog was on a side step. Buddy was then put into the ambulance with the patient.

Wright drove separately. At the hospital, medical staff told him about Buddy's trip. Wright retrieved the dog from the ambulance, then later drove his boss and Buddy home.

Nicholson said Friday that he thinks of lot of his dog.

The loyalty of a dog is bound only by its short life and communications barrier, a dog would literally go to the ends of the earth to seek out its owner, it would spend every breath it had, hoping to see its owner one last time. Dogs are a unique creature, they choose a person, that person becomes their person...and they wish only to please their person every waking moment of their lives. They only ask in return a few kind soft words, a scratch behind the ears, and enough food and water to get them by. You can scream at a dog, kick at it, hit it, hurt it, and while it may become skittish and distrustful...it doesnt lose faith in all humanity.

We should all be so lucky to have a good dog consider us, to be their person. Because you can have a dog, you can have 10 dogs...but that doesnt mean you are their person.

Welcome to Jindo Tales

Quote:
Jindos often display intense loyalty to their owners and families. They are an active breed that thrives in a stable environment, filled with positive reinforcement and enriching activities. These unique qualities make them very appealing to dog lovers who like the novelty of owning a rare breed, but may not have the experience required in handling the challenges of raising a primitive dog. This has resulted in many Jindos being abandoned or surrendered to local animal shelters, where they are often misidentified and overlooked. Despite being a National treasure in their homeland of Korea, they remain relatively unknown in the States.

Dogs continually restore my faith. There aren't any other interspecies bonds that are as strong as man and dog.

Same here. Dogs aren't just loyal, but they are honest as well.
