Default Ever sold a car and bought it back later?

I sold my 02 Z06 in October of 2008. I got an email Sunday afternoon from the guy I sold it to and he's thinking about selling. Despite not planning to buy a car again anytime soon, I'm interested. Just curious what others have done in the same situation and how it ended up.

This picture of the car was taken just before it sold. I sold it with 28k miles. It has 38k now.

Yes. I bought a pickup truck back that I'd sold to a friend.

that would kinda be like getting divorced, and then re-marrying the gal again.

Not a car.
I did buy a home back from a buyer I sold to. And resold it.

Made more money on the flip than I did when I built it new.

Never have. If a sell a car, then I've made up my mind to get rid of it and then forget about it.

I get that, but I didn't sell it because I was tired of it. The only reason I sold it was to buy a house. I was single at the time and could have kept the car, but selling freed up some money so I could start out in a better place financially.

I'm really undecided on which way to go. If I had to decide right this second I'd lean towards not buying it, but I think my wife wants me to get it back more than I do.

There's something to be said for your reasoning. About 25 years ago my buddy wanted to buy the 1965 Mustang his wife drove in college. It wasn't that hard to locate the car, and he and I spent the 3 months before Christmas getting it in good shape: Rebuilt the engine and transmission, replaced the interior, painted it.

Although his wife starting wondering if he was cheating on her because he was at house so much, she was thrilled on Christmas Day. Good memory.

I know someone who did that too.

Though I've never regretted selling it, and don't really miss it, I would consider buying my C5 back if the opportunity arose, but that would be the only one.
Normally I would not want any more contact after the sale, but the guy that bought it still occasionally texts me questions or just updates about what he's done with it, and I enjoy hearing that. He loves the car, and I know he's taking care of it.

I'd really like the opportunity to buy back my 1998 Supra. Last selling price on it was $79,999. Little steep for me right now, but it still only has 1,000 more miles on it than when I sold it in 2008.

I sold it only to cash in on the Fast and Furious premium on the car. I really really want that car back.

My brother did that once. It went about as well as expected.

Sold a Vega set up for a V-8 as a roller once. Guy that bought it put in a fresh, healthy 350 and trans, and may have had it on the road for a couple months before looking to sell. The guy that bought it spun the car twice the first day he had it. He comes asking me how I was ever able to drive the damn thing...said it was dangerous. I made a offer for the car, and thought we had a deal, but the guy doesn't show. WTF?

Two days later another mutual friend shows up driving the Vega. He had traded a Chevelle to the other guy, and damn near put the car in a ditch not more than an hour later.

I finally ended up buying back the car for less than I sold it as a roller. Took the fresh motor out, sold the roller again....for what I had in the second purchase...and sold the motor for more than the car.

One more time and I'd have made back all the money I sunk into the original build.

Yes. I bought back my '93 Blazer I had sold to a friend, he sold it off, then that guy sold it, then I found it on Craigslist 2.5 years later and bought it back.

I traded my 75 Corvette for some boat repair work.

Later when he was divorcing, he gave the car back and I sold it.

I havent but I can only think of one car that I wouldnt buy back. 2002 Grand Caravan... All the cars/trucks I have sold were either because I was bored with them or because I needed more of a family car. I sold a 77 280Z 2+2 to an ex-girlfriend. I'd take the car back.
