My 17 year old classic self-winding watch serves me just right. The price I paid is less than the watch is worth, and I keep it up. It's due to go in for another freshening for approx. $400. Worth every penny. Love my sub.

So, get another. They aren't overly expensive.

I've had Citizens for the past 15 years or so.
Current stash is 3;
1 for work. (I work in a industrial garage setting)
1 for casual wear.
1 for dress-up wear.
The work/casual units are rather beat up (scratches, chips in the glass, etc),
but they all still work perfectly.

Speaking of fancy schmancy watches, if you prefer gold on your watch anywhere, you are wasting your time with the $300-400 Seikos and competitors. That crap rubs off and turns silver. If you spend a modest amount more, you can have gold forever, and your asset might actually appreciate in value.

Bought my Sub (with extra links) for $5,200 in 2001 from a local vendor who negotiated on price. Current value about $7,500.

I have it serviced by a place in LA. Yes, the cost of the services over the years might exceed the appreciation, but all of those Seikos I bought for 3 or 4 hundred went to zero. My Rolex was a good investment, and I still love looking at it on my wrist every day, 17 years later.

I just bought a Hamilton x wind automatic. Got a great deal from Macys of all places and 2 year warranty.

Seriously ... why buy a several thousand dollar watch? It is merely jewelry for the gold chain set.

Ya,I have had my Tag for over twenty years and recently have let the local jeweler swap out the battery for much less then shipping it out, install new o-rings yada-yada you owe us 3-400 now.To me its not worth it anymore. Its still mint and its my nice dress watch.
My go to watch is a Luminox it was given to me and I just wear and if it gets abused oh well.I have acouple of wind-ups including a Timex from the 70's that still ticks and my dad's Accro a Swiss time piece that is over sixty-five years old,a nothing special watch back its day but its sentimental value is priceless.
Now back to the op,looks like a cheap watch and just not a fan of oversized faces on watches today.I like vintage watches and someday will get a Hamilton Electric always liked that style.

I never had more than a utilitarian use for watches. About ten years ago my Son-In-Law, the car salesman and complete watch fanatic (he owns 30-50 of them and has three cases that keep the self winders moving 24/7) got tired of being seen with me wearing Casio rubber watches and bought me a nice Pulsar for Christmas. Not very expensive, but nice looking and works flawlessly. I liked it and wore it daily. Several years later he bought me another, than another. So I now have white, gold and black faces of basically the same watch. The Gold does rub off and they look a little worn.

During this time my brother gifted me with a nice Corvette watch, It's a little big and heavy, but I like it and wear it, too. Last year the SIL bought me an Armitron, a step up from the Pulsars, but still nowhere near baller status. Looks nice and it is also a little heavy but I like and wear it.

So my watch wardrobe stands at five, It's cost me nothing and It's surprising how many compliments I get on them. I'm not complaining.

You’re getting ripped off... 395/399 silver Oxide watch batteries are $5.40 for a five pack. You can change the battery yourself for $1.08.

I agree, that's why the local guy does it now.Might not be as cheap as doing it myself but i'm not getting ripped off like in the past and it still gets done instead of procrastinating about it which I know I would do.

Yep my wife as quite a collection. I bought her all she needs off amazon to remove links and change batteries. She takes them with her purses and shoes to Thailand and gives them away and I get to buy her more.
