an average cutting board has about $30-$40 of materials in it......and doesn't sell for anywhere near the mark up that a canvas and some paint sells for.

Rothko. There is no bigger artist demand than this guy. He started the simple looking color and shape segments that surprisingly created emotional responses. He was my idol when I went to Pasadena art center. I do think he borrowed a little from Ad Reinhardt but thats ok. Oh did I mention that art collectors are douches because they do it for the investment?

No, you don't understand. The two guys are part of the entire piece. They will be permanently holding that artwork 24/7 at the buyer's home and will need to be fed etc. That's what all the money is for.
