oops.

filling up our cistern for the week, 200 gallons (one load on my truck) adds about 3-1/2" to the level. so i check it....hmmm....looks like i can fit in one more load....get water, come back, start off loading....uh oh.

i hear water gurgling from the man hole cover. i think it's full now. shut the valve on the tank, still have about 75 gal in on the truck. will off load that in a few days when the cistern level has gone down a little.

oops.

I'm glad you got all that water supply stuff figures out Douglas. It must be a pain hauling H2O all the time, but if you live in the desert it's not a big price to pay.
Has your summer been as dry as the rest of the country?

we got a few rains in the last few weeks, with ongoing chances for rains for the next few weeks.

our rain water cistern, it catches the rain off the guesthouse roof, is full at 3,000 gallons. use that to water plants and wash cars; and it's an emergency backup supply for house use.

use a 275 gallon tank on my truck to haul 200 gallons at a time (weight limited). average about 800 gal/week, so got in 3 hauls yesterday, and 2 more today.

since the well is a very slow producer currently, this is our option. i really like being able to take a warm shower in the morning. and being able to run the dishwasher after dinner.

next up this week: start kitchen demo!! bye bye little island, hello larger island!!

might grill a little. we also have a countertop electric burner, a little oven, a microwave, and a sink in my office for doing dishes (will also use up our supply of paper plates and plastic forks/knives/spoons).

i'll post a separate thread when i have something to show. got some before pix this week.
