I don't do video editing. As these were "pace lap", one of the track rules is "no braking". Another track rule is "no passing". Another obvious rule is "no crashing". Therefore, I was backing off way before to avoid hitting or passing the car in front. While it looks like those cars in front are far away, it would seem that my phone uses the fish-eye lens for video, thus those cars look further away than they really are.

And yes, I know I could have stayed in it further...

Made it home ! Car only got up to 230 degrees once while in traffic. Turned the AC off and it cooled to 203. Gonna figure this out if it kills me.

Are your cooling fans running backwards? Any electrical work that might explain this? I had a pinched wire in my front bumper that caused mine to do just that. Car overheated like a mofo when I turned the A/C on, but immediately settled to normal temps when it was off.

A backwards-running fan was the culprit. Just a thought.

Hell yes it was slippery Some great runs Craig.
Also hotter than Hades with plenty of little pebbles in the lot.

Yeah man, I'll get that bish posted up. Car sounded killer Joey! Once you got her to hook off the line, you started to greatly improve your times.

Final stats:

door to door mileage: 1252
total mileage: 2534
travel time each way: about 23-1/2 hours of driving over 2 days. ugh.

gas cost: $471.16 for 136.67 gallons (regular), $3.447/gal average
hotels: $514.81
meals and misc: $100
event registration: $35
stuff from gift shop: $20

grand total: $1140.97, which is a little less than my expected budget of $1200.

had a great time, enjoyed driving Datawiz's 'minivan' for the short trip to/from dinner saturday.

totals above do not include material costs of Iron Chef's 'ban hammer' nor Dixievet's cutting board.

look forward to attending next year, assuming it is not further away. Bowling Green is about my limit.

thanks all, videos will be posted once uploaded.

Thank you again for the cutting board, I have it here on the island in my kitchen. I believe that it will become my new serving board for bbq competitions.
