Per Steve R request: consolidated '90 destruction and rebirth thread
As requested, I will try to consolidate the build on the '90 to this thread.
Updates as they occur....she is being rebuilt, and it is going as smoothly as possible. It is clearly evident my guy has done this before, and has a dang good memory. Back Story: the car was in limbo...I've debated whether to post or not, but since I was never going to sell anyway, I don't care if people know, plus if I was ever to sell, I would disclose anyway. My beautiful '90 ZR-1 was reduced to a pile rubble a couple of weeks ago, as my son must have been driving it like he stole it, entered a sandy corner that falls away a bit, way too hot, jumped the curb, slammed an immoveable metal pole, spun around, jumped the curb again coming to rest blown apart. Luckily my son was uninjured so I can kill his f*&^%$# azz......... I have a friend who says he has fixed one with nearly the exact damage, and it is just a matter of back halfing the car. he has convinced me to fix it if the numbers work out, I do not have the buy back number yet........this is what my gorgeous Z was reduced to and before pictures |

It will definitely be as strong, if not stronger, than before. How much does this diminish the value of the car? I have to think it's a pretty strong hit on the value if you ever go to sell it.

This reminds me several years back when at my buddies restoration shop and a customer brought in his C2 to adjust the door hinges, as a door wouldn't close and latch. Further examination revealed that the front half of the birdcage had rusted out.
The owner was advised of the enormous cost and effort to replace the birdcage. Customer said to do it as it was a one family owned car. I started a months long thread on the Corvette Forum with photos. I'm still banned over there for a few days but will try and find the thread and post a link here. Great work on your beautiful blue Corvette!! |

Correction: The car was brought in to replace a damaged one piece front end.

So as I mentioned earlier, I repaired the seat bolster and switch cover, fixing the drooping headliner...both items have been in need of repair for probably 15 years at least.... only upgrade at this time is Wilwood brake kits both front and rear........a whole bunch of stuff was broken, rotors, etc.....was going to do anyway, so makes sense now.......with the 18" Forgelines, I can just barely squeeze 14" front rotors on it...... |

Eventually, I would like to put a 391 package together from Pete The Greek......here is a '91 with that package 176 mph; terrific street manners, and bullet proof dependability. then I'm done........
