Default Pepperoni?

The frozen pizza thread got me wondering about whether anybody actually likes pepperoni. I remember liking the good stuff from the Italian delis in the Bronx when I was a mere sprout. Ultra-thinly hand-sliced by me and either eaten by itself or occasionally in a sandwich, maybe with some Italian deli hard salami also sliced ultra-thin (but usually by the deli) seemed like something legit to eat. But somewhere along the way I became a pepperoni agnostic, finally ending up a pepperoni apostate. Pepperoni on pizza might have been the reason (meaning I've never cared for it, even when I was still an aficionado), but I think it was grocery store pepperoni that did it. I guess the same is true for salami.

So, what about all y'all? Do you really like pepperoni? Do you only eat it on pizza? Is pepperoni something you think of when you start thinking about what you want to eat?

Enquiring minds want to know.

My preference is plain cheese, I then put on some garlic and pepper and a few other spices.

If I opt for a side it is usually only onions, but not often.

I love pepperoni and salami. All the different varieties. But I prefer meat over chocolate or sweets. Snacking on deli meats is the best.

I like pepperoni as a snack, on pizzas and on pizza subs.

Depends on the pizza and the pepperoni. Domino's blows but a local place has great pizza with great pepperoni

Best pizza I ever had was in Madrid, NM. Pronounced MAD-rid.

Pepperoni and green chile. So yum!

Taking all y'all's feedback under consideration, I'm going to give pepperoni another try.

I viewed the 2017 total eclipse from Madras, Oregon. They pronounce it similarly: MAD-ras. Must be an American thing.

But that's like in New York Houston Street is HOUSE-tn street but Houston Texas is HEW-stn

I sympathize with people who are learning the American language. There are a lot of exceptions to any reasonable expectation.

Pepperoni and green chile sounds like a good mix.

They started selling that in Texas a couple years back. It's a bit more than more local offerings....is it worth it? Haven't tried yet.

In Missouri they have New MAD-rid.
Across the river in IL they have KAY-ro.

Love a pepperoni pizza, particularly wood fired pizza when the pepperoni turns into little cups...

It's a requirement on pizza.

I often buy a stick, keep it in the fridge, and cut a chunk off for the occasional snack.

I like it. Tasted bad pepperoni once. Not sure how they screw that up but it doesn't scare me off from eating good pepperoni. It needs to make me barf before that happens (Arby's for example).
