Forgot to leave a tip. Hmm

Forgetting to leave a tip, sort of..
Long story short, I did not leave a tip on one receipt for extra food to take home, but did on receipt of actual meal we sat down for at restaurant. Manager calls and asks why no tip, and at first I honestly thought I didnt. Anyways, I was right, I did leave tip on main meal, but the manager had an attitude.

Let me make sure I read that right. Did you say that you got called by the manager to ask why you didn't leave a tip on a take out order?

How did a manager have your phone number?

I believe you should go visit that manager with a bag full of pennies and tell him "here's your tip bitch...shove every one of them up your ass"

No I sat down and had a meal. I put a tip on that service and meal. Then I asked for something to go and did not put a tip on that.

What was the waiters fault was her service was awful. Four of us and never refilled the water glasses without being asked a couple times or checked after food was delivered.

Wrote down our orders wrong. In general hardly saw her and on a few occasions asked another waiter to Please send ours over. She was not that busy and in fact the other woman at our table was a waiter for a few years.

Basically a very bad waiter. Had to wait a long time to get our bill and have her come back from the cashier area.


So we left about a 3% tip. Waiter followed us to the door making a lot of loud noise about how cheap we are. Wrong move! I matched her volume and told her she was the worst waiter I ever had the misfortune to be "served" by and considering all that 3% was most definitely a very large tip for the level of service provided.

Manager started over and turned around after I went back at the loudmouth waiter. Needles to say we never went there again and we told everyone we knew about that shit hole restaurant and our waiter in general

The one and only time I walked without paying...

Four of us waited for at least 30 minutes and finally I said eff it and we all walked out.

You did nothing wrong in my opinion but I would go back with a paper bag full of pennies and after to tell the manager in front of other customers that you will never come back to his place and why....then I would drop the bag of pennies on the floor to break open and walk out,maybe even giving the Jersey Hi sign as you do.

One night with another couple we went to a local pub and we did have a bit much to drink (wife drove home) and I actually forgot to leave a tip
I realized the next morning and went back with an envelope with cash in it and her name on it. The manager was shocked and thanked me...he said she was upset thinking we had bad service. If he had done what yours did I would have done what I said above.

Tips are not obligatory. Some places do try to add some gratuity for parties over a certain size but that hasn't been a problem for me. And don't pay in pennies, some guy did that as a prank for a small parking fine and somebody assessed the coins and found a few rarities that were worth $3,000.

Once, only once, I intentionally stiffed a waiter and left him only 20.00 for 250.00+ meal.

It was at the R2L restaurant on top of the skyscraper in Phila. The entire meal, wine and service was the worst I have ever experienced! Then upon paying the check they were "having computer problems" and couldn't run my card. The waiter says we will write down your CC numbers and charge you later.....I said no. He turns and says', "we can just take the numbers from our attempts and can steal your money anytime we want!"

To add to the story, they required a 250.00 NON refundable deposit! We had to order a few meals to go to use up the balance after our meal and wine.

Just horrible, then they called me the next day asking what happened, I hung up on them.
