Good morning Charles, Julian, and John. Hope all is well this morning. Gloomy with rain up here, tail ends of the storm. At least there's no snow yet. usually we get the first snow of the year right around Halloween. It's coming though....

She woud be on the 3rd. donor waiting list, which is the least serious recepients. Our Health Plan would cover 80% of the procedure. Procedure is some where between $600,000, & 800,000. There is no coverage for the cost of harvesting the donor heart. $98,000.00 give or take. After care would run around 100,000. Our health plan was billed If I remember, around 4500.00. for our first appointment. If we decided to go forward, the second appointment would be at the hospital for an 8 hour day. Cat Scan & other tests. A meeting with a the full transplant surgery team, a finance manger and others. I don't remember all of them. I estimated a $20,000 day. Any way, we were afraid that our health care would be exhausted and we would be left with no coverage for her, not to mention there was no way to come up with the out of pocket costs. It was highly unlikely that she would ever be called. They do have a great success rate. 89,90% I believe. So we decided that it was probably not an option. |

They mentioned more than once when I was in the hospital that if I didn't improve that I'd be a good candidate for a transplant.
My insurance is 50/50 for out of network stuff. 900k? Tell you what doc, find me a job, and you'll get paid over the next 10 years. |
