Both lenses look great. Both have their merits, making it difficult to choose which would be best for me.

Those are sweet ! I like that 17-70 range. They say you should look through your old pics and find out what range you do the majority of your shooting. 1.8 would make some fantastic portrait stuff. I bet they come in at the $1500 + range....

$799 for the 18-35 1.8 and $499 for the 17-70.
