for some reason or other A set of Equus gauges in my vette has packed it in, all 4 of them, the white plastic bodies have shattered all along the bottoms and even chunks coming outta them.....looks stupid, been getting worse over some years now, finally decided to bite the bullet and change them all out....

problem child, the gauge set I bought, temp/volts/oil was made by nitwits...just what good is a temp gauge that goes to 280F?? WTF internal combustion engine runs anywhere NEAR that level without going into destruct??

Not unusual for modified LS motors oil temps to exceed 280 on Summer race days.

You desire the gauge pegged at a normal operating temp?

A properly "sized" gauge should indicate about halfway during normal operating conditions. Makes it real easy to scan the dash quickly, see all needles pointing straight up.

A coolant temp gauge typically baselines at 100 deg, and sweeps to 260-300 on the high end. This puts the midway at 180-200, which is where most cars normally operate.
