Default Popular electric Ford truck gets massive price reduction

My guess would be that if these were so popular they wouldn't be lowering the price. They can cite increased production but the reality is the dealers can't sell them and I doubt Ford would voluntarily give up profits. I've not driven one so I can't criticize these trucks but I can't imagine owning a full size electric truck.

The electric Ford F-150 Lighting just got a lot cheaper. Citing factors such as increased plant capacity, efforts to scale up production to reap the rewards of economies of scale, and cheaper raw materials, the Blue Oval slashed the truck's base price across the entire line-up.

Lightning buyers still have four trim levels called Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum, respectively, to choose from, and the middle two models remain available with two battery options (standard- and extended-range). Updating pricing for the full F-150 Lightning range is as follows:

Pro: $51,990 ($9,979 less than the previous price)

XLT: $56,990 ($9,479 less than the previous price)

XLT Extended Range: $71,990 ($8,879 less than the previous price)

Lariat: $71,990 ($6,979 less than the previous price)

Lariat Extended Range: $79,490 ($8,479 less than the previous price)

Platinum: $93,990 ($6,079 less than the previous price)

When they discount them 100%, I may know someone that wants one.

The primary factor, which they somehow forgot to cite, was that they had to slash prices in an attempt to match Tesla now that the Cybertruck is rolling off the assembly lines.

Funny how I've never even seen ONE of these 'popular' trucks. I guess if the media keeps SAYING that EV's are great, and popular, it will become true.

I have one in my hood, looks like every other F-150, he got his early so he paid the original high MSRP.

I do not do evS, evTrucks, asian cars, 4 or 6 cylinders, four doors unless a Caddy with Man Pedal, suvS unless over 700hp!!

I will say that I do see a fair amount of Teslas tooling around Houston nowadays. Most of them look like Rob's.....same model, white in color. I've seen a few Rivians, the uber-expensive electric trucks, and maybe I've seen the electric F-150's, but just didn't notice them, due to their similarity with the ubiquitous gas powered F-150's.

Who told Ford their EV trucks are popular? Since it hit the market, several YouTube videos have shown its battery is not what was advertised.

The truck is a grocery-getter, nothing more.

As long as your groceries don't weigh that much.

I think they mean "popular" like the popular girls that gave BJs under the bleachers or slept with the entire football team.

Not a keeper, just well known.

I actually saw one, in the wild, the other day. Would I want one? Nope. Even if it was free? Nope.

This guy experienced trauma going on an apparently short mileage ski trip, so family + luggage. Imagine if he was towing a trailer, too.

And charging on a 110v charger all night gets 20 miles of range? That pretty much makes the 110v charging useless, other than in an emergency, like having AAA bring you out a gallon of gas to get a few miles down the road where hopefully, you can find a gas station. Finding a charging station, however, isn't going to be as easy, and even if he does, he might have to wait in line all day.

Not ready for prime time as a road trip vehicle, or a tow vehicle. Route vehicle that returns home every night? Sure. But you need an extra gas vehicle for road trips or to do any significant towing.

There is actually a way that I could be very motivated to buy an EV.

If they offered a NEW version of a:

57 Chevy
69 Camaro
63 Corvette
71 Charger
69 Road Runner
70 Shelby
AC Cobra

... that was made from perfect duplications of the original sheet metal/glass and interiors but had EV powertrain, I "might" consider one.
